Week 25 2011 Support Group
Congratulations! We drove ours home today (Saturday). I just spent the last three hours sitting in the car reading through the owner's manual -- there are way, way, way too many ***** and frobs on these cars.
I'll look forward to seeing some pictures of your car with its new wheels.

thanks kernlbob,
appreciate the support- well.... it looks like it'll be ready (*sigh*) "tommorrow" (ie-friday).
i'm sure i'll be a happy camper once i get her off the lot, bang off a few gears & square off some corners.... vroom... vroom...
so tell me... how do you like yours now that you've sorted out all those buttons, ***** & toggles and put a few miles under her? any sorting issues?
best regards,
k

I like it a lot. The gizmos are fun to play with, especially the folding mirrors. The power and delivery are good - the only time I notice it's a turbo is when I suddenly release the accelerator. It takes a fraction of a second for the engine power to cut.
I had no idea headlights could be so bright. (We got the high intensity option.)
The steering ratio is very quick, and the wheel has a strong self-centering action.
I still haven't gotten the hang of the stateless turn signal lever, but it's becoming more natural.
The burble in sport mode keeps surprising me. Non-sport mode is useless, and I will eventually find a way to enable sport mode all the time.
4500 RPM redline during break in is no fun at all.
I got back into the M3 (1998 4-door) last night for the first time since the Mini arrived. My impressions of the M3 after the Mini were:
-- where's the power?
-- steering is much lower-effort.
-- M3 is a BIG car to park. (-:
-- sure is nice to be able to power-oversteer again.
The Mini is going back to the dealer Monday to get the JCW Tuning Kit fitted. Then my wife is keeping it with her in Washington for the rest of the week. Once again, I'll attend a local Mini club event in a non-Mini.
