Just got a regular '07 manual mini. 32,000 miles when I got it 2 weeks ago....33,500 now. Man, I LOVE this baby! It's british green with the stripes and the duel sunroofs. But.....I think I'm gonna have to do a break job.....soon. I usually do work myself. Just wondering if there are any tricks/secrets I need to know.....suggestions before I dig in....Thank you all and...happy motoring!

Welcome to NAM and congrats on the MINI. Can't help with the brakes question but check in the Gen 2 section for starters.
Details on your MINI along with pics will be appreciated around here!

Welcome Tenah! The brake job is pretty straight forward. Just use a caliper spreader for the front calipers and the rear caliper pistons will require one of those tools with the two nipples to screw the piston back. I'm sure you could get away with a pair of needle nose pliers by using the tips in the holes of the piston while turning and applying pressure.

I'm assuming the rear calipers are the same on Gen 2 as they are on Gen 1. As stated before, just do a search in the Gen 2 section for brake job how to and you'll get all the information you need. This site is incredible for getting information on your new baby!

+1 on the pics of your new baby!

Don't forget the car will tell you when it thinks it needs brakes. There are sensor that will need to be replaced too when do you the brake job.
