Retrofit the rear buckets with 2 rail with bench seat?
I have a 2011 with rear buckets and 2 part rail. I also have the hated leatherette with no lumbar support. I found these leather seats on eBay. They have the center seat instead of the rail. From searching the forums, it seems it's doable because I have the load flat rear. Has anyone done the swap?

I did see that thread. If I recall, I think that's how I knew I needed the load flat boot. But it doesn't seem like anyone has actually done the retrofit. I'm curious if I'm just wasting money buying the seats if installing the new seat belt is a PIA, or if the screw bases aren't the same, or whatever other issues come up. I'm not enough of car aficionado to be the first to take the leap. Granted, I did swap the base seats to leather in my '03 Just a Cooper, and it worked perfectly, but those were the same seats with different fabric. This leap requires bravery. I was hoping someone else was brave, so I could just be the follower.

If you want to add the middle seat belt, it would require a different headliner and other hardware for the center belt. If you are just going to keep the outer belts and not worry about the center, you should be able to just swap the seats. I had thought about swapping when I was considering a 2012 with 4 seats when I needed a 5 seater, but found a 2013 with rear bench...
