I just got "smart". First time mini-owner here.

Well I did have a 2008 Smart Fortwo that I drove until I got tired of having wimpy power under the hood. I just traded that Smart today for this:

2010 Mini Cooper S. Had just 6K miles on it and picked it up for a decent price. I must say I forgot what having real horsepower under the hood felt like. This thing absolutely blows my mind in terms of acceleration and grip.

BTW anyone going to Minis on the Dragon? I live within a short drive of the dragon and will be going up there for a few practice runs tomorrow. Hoping I'll be off from work (I travel extensively throughout the southeast for my company). Anyway enough rambling out of me I'm just happy to be here!

Thanks. I'm thinking it needs a little more growl. Any suggestions?

I take it this happens often around here? Hate to say it for the quirky little Smarts... I like them, but the clock is ticking for Penske and Company.

well. cold air intakes and exhausts are generally just for sound on these things.I found a factory JCW exhaust a while back, which replaced a louder aftermarket system. Seems to ge a good quiet exhaust untill you hit the go pedal.

Cold air intakes also change audible engine noise (blow off valve noise) and can change the exhaust tone.

You could also simply have a shop delete the second cat / resonator.

Youll find TONS of threads on these small issues with the search button up at the top of the page. Most of it is just personal preference

Welcome to NAM, nice MINI. I like Smart Cars, too, but already had MINIs by the time they hit the US and couldn't see going even smaller, plus I'm totally hooked by MINIs anyway.
Go check out the Gen 2 Mod forums, you'll find tons of info there. It's also fun to spend some time on youtube listening to modded MINIs. That's how I decided on my soon to be done mods (just picked up my '11 MCS Saturday).
Again, Welcome! We'll look for you at the Dragon,
Annette
