It is a 5/8 spark plug socket and if you use a regular one you will need a 6" extension. As for special instructions....

It is important to only change your plugs when the engine is COLD. As in overnight cold. And don't change them unless you have a torque wrench as they get torqued to 20 ft/lbs. I also put a dab of anti-seize on the plugs when I install them.

There have been numerous reports of ejected plugs and ruined heads because of improperly installed plugs. I check torque every 5000 miles each time I change the oil and have never had a problem.

As for what plugs are best, I will leave that to all the others with opinions on that.

Don't know. I use a 5/8" 6 point extended length spark plug socket. But a regular length socket would work fine too.

You can also get a deep dwell socket that is made for spark plugs.
I recomend Brisk plugs myself.

Make sure you torque them when they go back in a blown out plug is an expensive fix.

16 mm and 5/8 are almost the same size -- the 5/8 works fine.
