Paralyzed by indecision! Bonnet Stripes or no?

Ok, so we're supposed to be picking up the new MCC at the end of the week. Body color is pure silver, which almost looks white, and roof is black. Currently she has black bonnet stripes, and I asked the dealer to take them off before delivery. But now I'm not sure! I'm not a flashy kinda gal - I prefer tiny little flashes (like the Union Jack valve stem caps, which I also ordered.) I don't want to be boring though. Argh! What do y'all think?

I absolutely love bonnet stripes. It is the classic Mini Cooper look. The only ones that will notice the Union Jack Valve Stems are the mechanics and tire rotation guys. The bonnet stripes do not represent flashy, they represent Mini history!

I have bonnet stripes on my Chili Red Cooper, I think they add to the character of the car.

Leave 'em on and see how you like them. If you're not into them, you can always remove them.

keep the bonnet stripes, they're nice. the only one who'll notice the union jack valve stems are the kids with bicycles who'll end up stealing them. had an 03 R53 and i went through 2 sets before deciding enough is enough and just put on the regular one at the time.

Bonnet stripes are good, but IMHO a MINI needs boot stripes to balance her out. Bonnet & boot stripes are a nice complement.

infomini has it nailed dead center. The hood stripes are just as much a part of the classic Mini look as the contrasting roof that you ordered. Besides, you can remove them if they don't grow on you, but they probably will.

I love stripes BUT the point of a MINI is that it's YOUR car - do what you like!

Do what you like. Bonnet stripes are like bleach bottle blondes...maybe beautiful but very common.

Thanks! I decided to give them a whirl - salesguy (sorry, motoring advisor) reminded me that I can take them off within the first few weeks if I really don't like them. I'm picking the new baby up tomorrow - can't wait!!!!

First few weeks? I believe you can take them off any time, although the dealer probably won't comp you after the first few weeks. But I believe they're quite easy to remove.

Regardless, good on ya for keeping the stripes! It's a Mini, not a Camry, for heavens sakes!

Mazzy...MINIs were Born with Racing Stripes!! But I know how you feel, I was in question too about whether or not to have Bonnet Stripes on Molly. But just look at her pic. the Bonnet Stripes belong, without a doubt!!

Yah - apparently after about a month or so you can still take them off but you should get the bonnet buffed just in case there's a shadow. He said he's seen people take them off 3 year old cars and you can barely see a ghost, but they do cause some irregular aging in the paint over time.

I wish someone could convince my co-pilot of that.

Keep the stripes. Ours is a PS cabrio with black stripes and it looks great. I replaced them a couple of years ago and it was very easy to do. A hair dryer was all it took to get the old ones off. Got them from Aesthetic Creations with good instructions. Even came with a cool stencil of a winged dragon that has a place under the bonnet now.

Of course you hadn't. You're a project mangler. (great name!)

I wouldn't worry about ghosting, especially on a light color.
