Finally! (2)

For years I avoided MINIs because I wanted one so badly and I thought I would never get one.

The tide turned on August 20th and I took possession of a 2010 MCS. I bought it off the dealer's lot at the end of model year sale. It's pretty basic but it meets my three main requirements:
  • "S" Model
  • Manual
  • Pepper White with a black roof and black mirrors
One oddity: my new next door neighbor turned out to be the sales manager at the MINI dealer. It must have been karma.

I know that I am not telling you guys anything but this car is an absolute BLAST to drive. I've already got a real strong case of MINI addiction.

Only problems so far:
  • Getting used to the run flat tires
  • My wife wants to drive the car all the time despite her new Volvo
NAM looks like a really nice community. I look forward to being a member for many years to come.

Welcome to MINI ownership, and to NAM!

There's a wealth of information here, so we encourage new members to first do a search before posting a new thread. Often times, your question might very well have been answered previously. In some cases, (like "how can I get more power from my MINI?"), the question has been answered in countless threads.

The search function is your friend, but admittedly, it isn't also extremely sharply-focused sometimes, and it can give you rather general results. If you can't find what you want, then by all means, post a new thread!

Good luck with your new MINI!

Congrats & Welcome! I'm not psychic or anything but I predict a 2nd MINI in your future... Just read the threads...there are a lot of us two-MINI families out there.

Welcome.
I also envision a two MINI family for you.
If you are crazy enough you can end up a three MINI/ Mini family like ours.

Zaneite, welcome to the show! If you have black 17" crown spokes, you got what I got and I know how happy I am. Now wrestle away the wheel from your wife and motor!

Tell your wife she can have the MINI once her Volvo is gone... she can have the old one while you get a new one!

Congrats! I love Pepper White/Black. Looks so nice.

My advice is get rid of the run flats ASAP and get a nice high performance summer tire. I recommend the Hankook Ventus v12 evo k110's. Absolutely fantastic tire and the ride quality compared to the run flats is ten times better.

Yay! Congrats Zaneite! Welcome aboard to 'the madness', get used to lots of attention and a smile that you, literally, cannot slap off your face. I hope wifey gets one for herself as well, no fair that you can't be driving your new baby! Tell her there are a lot of us 'S' ladies out there and we're more than happy to have her join our ranks. Enjoy the ride and don't forget to wave.

An Interesting Weekend

Thanks for all the nice comments.

I had an interesting weekend. My son and I went out to Michigan to attend the UConn-Michigan football game. We stayed in Adrian, Michigan about an hour south of Ann Arbor.

There are a ton of wonderful, twisty back roads in the area and we were driving our Hertz Ford Edge. There's some kind of strange irony there!

Feels so good to be driving the MINI today. Have a nice Labor Day everybody.

Congrats on the MINI! That's a great story about the neighbor being the manager. Small world sometimes.

My answer to the Mrs wanting to drive...I got the manual transmission which she doesn't know how to operate. Now the downside is that she wants me to teach her.... well that's certainly not happening on this car.
