Hello from Wichita, Ks

I'm new, I'm currently looking for my 1st mini. Not sure what model I want between the 02-07 S or the 2010 S.

I test drove a Mini last week and fell in love with the car, too bad the one I drove was $2500 over book value and not an S model.

Soo I'll be making a weekend trip to the dealer since its 170 miles from me.

I'm sure I'll have 100's more than I already have once I get it.

I like to try to seach before asking redundant questions lol. Since I know from being a long time forum member elsewhere that can lead to some real not friendly responses.

Which direction are you thinking of going (OKC or KC) since they are about the same distance? Maybe we could get together sometime to talk more about MINI's around the Wichita area.

Well probably going to KC since they can still do the Mini Select financing, I guess Oklahoma passed a law making any kinda of balloon payments illegal.

And since you're in Rose hill I'd love to get together and chat some Minis.

Looking can be fun and I'm sure you will find what you want, it just may take a while. Of course if you decide on a 2010 new one, you can then have the fun of picking out just what you want.

2010 S models built after March will have slightly more power and will have the BMW Valtronic system that takes the place of the regular throttle valve. The fuel mileage will also go up a bit. Check this out at www.motoringfile.com

Good luck!! Also the MINI HiFi stereo in the 2010 is much better, I hear.

I just bought a 2007 CPO Cooper from Mary Ann at Baron Mini. No complaints.

Well, thats what I'm HOPING for...

I hope that will make the dealers a little more "movable" on the price since next month they get a new engine and people will want to hold out for that one instead of buying one off the floor. from reading the "negotiating" thread I might have better luck selling Al Gore some Green credits.

You've may have already thought of this, but you could call up there, or look online and see what's in stock so you have a better idea of what you wanna look at when you get there. Maybe to a little research on that specific year model and style.

Everyone's going to recommend their own salesman, for me, Aaron, but they're all nice to work with up there from what I've seen. Just don't talk to Samer, he'll empty yer wallet on fun stuff, lol.

Well maybe you have a repore with Aaron. I talked to Aaron on the phone gave him my email address and he was going to send me a list of cars and pictures. I've never gotten anything. I think I might have to call up and ask for someone else.

Call and ask for Liz, or Mary, and be sure and tell them that you were referred by a few members of the KC Mini Club (Lilred1 and myself). They will take care of you! We also like them to know that we ARE referring customers to them as they do a lot every year for our Mini Club.

As a matter of fact, I just got off the phone with Liz and she is expecting your call. Like I said, she will take care of ya. (Just so I don't get flamed for this, in no way was this meant to step on Aarons toes, I'm just trying to get 79cutlas motoring already!)

It's cool... Aaron's been sick for some time, not sure how that's going, so that could be why you haven't heard from him. But like I said, they're all cool to work with. Like saturn said, tell them KC MINI club sent ya, they'll take care of you.

Brandon Stevens motors...... I wont even go into the Mini I saw there for $19,900. It was a light blue, S with 55K miles. It had a few just NASTY door dents. Not dings, but actual DENTS. I said they were crazy to want that kinda money for a 5 year old car with obvious dents and poor ownership, but they wanted to "show me" the Honda Fit they had on the lot. I initally went in there to look at a handful of cars.

The Mini S of course, the G35 coupe, Benz C230, Audi TT convertible, and an Acura TL. Where in that linup of cars does a Honda Fit even come close? Or a PT cruiser? This was actually the most insulting thing to me. They ignored the dents on the Mini like they were "common". The bottom of the drivers door looks like it opened against a curb, it has a large almost folded corner. I already have pure disdain for the entire Steven's family. I dont know if the 2 are related, but I know Genesis health clubs burn down right when they're getting old, Spangles did a remodel a few years ago. They contracted a family friend to do 9 stores, they were fired after the 1st one was done and told they had the plans to do the rest already and didnt need them. Long story short family friend threatened to put a lein on the buildings, old man Stevens said "Ill burn your Fing house down." They took it as an angry moment. They proceeded with the leins. Then a week later their garage was set on fire with a gas can left beside the house. No charges were ever filed, and they dropped the leins from being scared. I really dont want anything to do with any part of that crooked family.

Ok yeah, I went into that more than I wanted to, but it still makes me mad to think about.

Thanks for the help with Baron Minis! I'm gonna get off here now and call Liz and talk to her. Its going to be a VERY VERY long week before I leave on Friday to get my new Mini. I'll make sure they know who refered me.

I must apologize to the community.

I thought I could actually own a Mini.
Every dealer I've spoken to is set on trying to offer me $7000-8000 for my truck. NADA trade in is much higher than KBB.

KBB is a horrible guide for cars. I dont know how it ever lasted longer than a year. Banks and Dealers use NADA as a guide to price vehicles and assign loan value.
For example when I bought my last used car, a 1996 GMC Sonoma. The asking price was $4000. The KBB was $3200, but the credit union said the NADA loan value was $4900. I ended up just paying $2500 cash. (gotta love the power of cash and an eager teenage whos never seen 25 bengies)

Last month I found a nice Integra GS-R for sale. KBB was again much lower than the NADA loan value of $5500. Edmunds is also lower.

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.as...67218&mi=74500

So now we come to my truck. The dealers want NADA retail for their cars, but the only want to offer KBB trade in for ours. I'm certainly not going to play the game. I wont give away my truck. I WANT a Mini, I dont HAVE to have one. They are exceptional cars, but obviously marketed to the same people who have Porsche's and Lambo's in the garage. (see the whats in your garage thread).

Guess I get to save the gas on a trip to KC and the night in the hotel. I'm disappointed, and a bit upset, but after reading the negotiation threads and dealing with "Pre-owned" managers who think they can double their money on peoples trades. I'll just buy something with the $3500 cash I had for the down payment and sell the truck to someone who will appreciate it.

Anyone want a 03 Silverado in almost perfect shape for $11,500? (considering I cant find a similar one for less than $14,500)

Sure! Except I'm clueless as how to transfer ownership since I still owe the bank some money on it!

LOL, dont get me wrong, I'd do your deployment for you to get the car!

Actually I kinda MISS deploying, I know I'm a sick bastard. You be careful over there for sure.

I wish I had the money, we bought our house 2 weeks early for the homebuyer tax credit. For some reason my wife was talked into applying for it anyways, yeah, now a year later they reversed that decision and we actually lost our 8000. Which happened to be most of our Federal return this year.

Good old IRS! I think next year I'm gonna claim a $8000 theft in my deductions. Cause we were not in the recession when I bought my house 2 weeks before Apr. 9th.

Anyways, happy thoughts, happy thoughts..... I think our accountant was sooo sure that they were just going to make it back from Jan 1 he didnt want to ammend anything. It was our fault, and we paid for it. Water off a ducks back right.

I'm still disappointed about the Mini and what they're offering for trade, but Liz said she's gonna work on it, so I'll let her work. I'm sure there's something on the lot that needs to go home and that 2006 Chili Red one they have is looking great.

If you go back up there talk to the Used Car guy that is appraising your truck for the trade in value. He was going to give me 8,000 for my xB but a dealer in Houston was going to give more but they didn't want to ship it so I talked Baron into giving more money for my trade because they didn't have to ship the car anywhere...
