Week 40 of 2009 Super Support Thread
I just heard from my dealer. It is scheduled to arrive on Sunday, when they aren't there. I have some dealer installed accessories, so that's scheduled on Tuesday, so I can take delivery on Wednesday! I think it's going to be the longest five days of my life!
Have you tried calling 1-866-ask-mini?
Talk to a live person. They should know what is happening.

Then you'll like this one.. my car will be called Jethro. Why? Was I a big fan of Jethro Bodine of The Beverly Hillbillies? No (though BH was an awesome show). It's because I'm a direct descendant of Jethro Tull, he's my great-great-great (or some number of greats) grandfather, on my dad's side. Seems fitting since he was a famous brit.
I just showed my brother the 'back' way to Palm Springs from Temecula..he always goes I-15 to I-10.
I sort of freaked Rod out. My wife and I were test driving an MCS. I already had made the deal but I wanted to drive a Mini again. They only had automatics left to demo. SO...we're driving around that circuit with Rod in the back seat. As I approached the last light before turning into the lot, the light turns orange. I reached with my left foot to engage the clutch to down shift and SKREEECH!!! The car comes to an almost instantaneous stop. Oooops. I usually drive a stick shift. This was an automatic. No clutch pedal. Brake pedal! I had accidentally tested that extra braking force feature! (If the car senses an unusually firm brake pedal depression, it adds extra pressure above the normal amount to the brakes to facilitate a panic stop.)
Yes! That feature seems to work. Rod was in the back seat. Luckily he was wearing a seat belt. He is low pressure but he perked up after that.

It was dark so the pics aren't the best. I'll get some better ones this weekend.
My wife was intently listening to every word the MA said. 2 hours later...nothing. She doesn't remember any of it.
Can't wait to drive it in the day time. Come on Sunshine.
Luckily we are up for day of sunshine and 78 degrees here in South Texas.
Here's to all of you that supported me through my journey.
Cheers.

Looks AWESOME!!! Congrats! The wait paid off didn't it?
My "Estimated Delivery Date" changed in the OL from 11/9/09 to 11/06/09 last night. Then this morning my MA advised that my MINI was released to the carrier Friday and will arrive in CO Monday. Probably going to pick him up Tuesday. Yipee!

Not sure yet. First my MA said that depending on when it arrives Monday, it could take a couple days for the final inspection. Uh. No. It's called a Pre-Delivery Inspection and it only takes about an hour. I wonder if my car is there and they just don't have time to prep it? If I wasn't 70 miles away, I'd drive there and look. Oh well.
Then they have to have the clear mask installed. I asked my MA to just deliver the car and I'll bring it back for the clear mask. I can't wait any longer. I'll start to shake. LOL I asked him to see what he could do to deliver it to me on Tuesday. I'm calling in sick, so I don't care when on Tuesday, but the sooner the better!
That's great news for all of you out of state people. I am only 2. hours from the port and the dealer, what gives!!! I called my MA this afternoon,he said he can't contral when it will be delivered at the dealer. The OL and his computer say it will go out Sunday Nov.8th. But they do not ship on Sunday, so it should be Monday. I told him other people from the Turandot out of state are going to get there cars on Monday. He said it must be the gauge install that is holding it up. I said I asked you if it would slow up the delivery and you said no. (it is only a 2.hour install). MA said he does know what to say.

Thank you-Ah -The fumes do smell lovely. I asked about the extended maintenace contract and was referred to this guy{not my MA} who said it was 200O Bucks -I mentioned what I saw On line and he said those were ancient prices{1395} "years ago". Is anyone thinking of buying one -It looked like a good deal if you do not have your own mechanic who you trust but I'm not sure. Two Big One's can buy a lot of "Burritos." Cactusklaw Abq.
