Welcome and enjoy that MCS!! I got mine about 2 months ago and really enjoy it. There are many theories about break in. Some advocate staying below the 4500 RPM but still accelerate somewhat briskly to seat the rings. Make sure it is warm before accelerating with any gusto.

The S has so much torque that it will accelerate pretty well while staying below 4,500 RPM. Most agree that you should avoid long periods at the same engine spped for too long during the breakin period. This is pretty important. I was thrilled once I burn off my break in period!

I am going to change my oil before 2,000 miles reagrdless of what BMW/MINI recommend. Many mechanics still recommend changing the manual transmission oil and the engine oil at about 1200 - 1500 miles. I also plan on engine oil changes every 8,000 miles - even with synthetic oil.

Happy Motoring!!!
