Other week 14ers out there?
Our Mini is definitely at the dealer (Classic Mini in Cleveland Ohio). We went to see it yesterday and actually got to sit in it. Really amazing to cyber build a car on a configurator 6 weeks ago only to see your actual creation right in front of your eyes.
Now...once we take them our credit union check on Wednesday we can actually drive the car off the lot. Unfortunately, I did not have 27K in cash to hand them on the spot. Amazing how options can add up in our little Mini's.
Koveras, I believe it is your JCW options that have slightly delayed your delivery. Our MA informed us that very few cars ever get damaged in transit.
Happy Motoring to all of you as you take delivery of your vehicles this upcoming week.

I was out and about today and swung by the dealership to see if my car was there (they're closed, but I could look) and as I was driving past I saw a little British Racing Green Cooper with a White roof and White stripes. I whipped my car around, walked up next to it to double check the VIN (yes... I have my VIN number memorized, it's a sickness), and that was it! It's there!
They haven't even touched it yet, there was still a lot of dust on it and all of the removable external parts were sitting in the car (Antenna, Wheel Center Caps, Tow Hook covers), but I didn't see any scratches, imperfections, or fitment issues. I didn't have my camera with me otherwise I'd post pics.

Just got home from picking up my Mini!!! I had a friend take me there after work so I didn't have to coordinate getting my car home, and while I was sitting in my MA's office going over things I realized I forgot my Checkbook! So I had to "test drive" a Mini to run home and get it, I've never been so glad to live close to the dealership. Everything else went without a hitch and the car is everything I wanted and more. It's raining here today but it still felt glued to the road through all of the unnecessary on and off-ramps I "detoured" through on the way home. I'll post some pics here in a few.

always have and always will. A timeless color that will look good for many years to come. You are very lucky to live so close to your dealer. Is this your first Mini? I looked in your gallery and if you keep scrolling to the right you see a red Mini. Just wondering.Interesting how you got to see your car before all the washing, prep, etc.. I did not realize they take off the antennae, center caps, etc.. Was there any protective wrap or other coating on the car? I would like to think they do something to protect the paint during transit.
Have fun and keep us posted of how it runs, drives, and feels. After being a Gen 1 owner, I have read many positive comments about the Gen 2's so I'm anxious to see myself the differences between the two.
Thyodin, not sure if you ever read this article about the Generation 2 Mini's but you may find it interesting.

I was able to see my car before they prepped it because I swung by the dealership after hours on the day it arrived and it was in the lot by their detailing building (yep, they have a whole separate building devoted to washing and detailing). I don't know if they peeled the protection stuff off as soon as it arrived, but there wasn't anything on any of the new Minis or BMWs on the lot when I looked.
I've never driven a Gen1 so I won't be able to compare it to that, but I will say it is the most fun I've ever had in a car, even when I forget to press the sport button. I used to own a 350z and while it was definitely faster, this Mini is just so much lighter and more tossable. I'm finding myself glad I didn't get an "S" because I'd probably already be in Jail. I've been keeping below 4500rpms and still sometimes I look down after quickly revving through 1st, 2nd, and halfway through 3rd and realize I'm doing 60mph in a 30mph zone. Oops! The engine seems extremely strong for a 118hp 4-banger, the shifts are light and smooth (manual), and the brakes almost threw me through the windshield the first time I used them! There are a lot of roundabouts in my town and I've probably hit them all at this point, most of them at over twice the "recommended" speed. The best part (ok, maybe not the best part) is that all the playing I've been doing around town and a few stretches on the highway to do on and offramps and my OBC still says I'm averaging a little over 30mpg! I finally managed to use up the 1st "Carrot" on the gas guage after a little over 80 miles of crazy fun driving.
Now I'm all excited for you guys to get yours so you can share in the fun.
