So the wife got a MINI... and I think I am in love

After a few months of driving the Evo, the wife decided it just wouldn't do. She really wanted something in a stick, and something more 'her'. So, after I came home from the west coast, I found our Jeep gone .. and this in the driveway in it's place.

First impressions is the car is a hoot to drive. Great response, insane handling, and awesome fuel economy. Over the life of the car, it has averaged 34mpg around town. We picked it up used, from a guy who traded up to a better ride. It only had 4k miles, and we got a steal of a deal on it.

So .. with her moving into this, I got this by default.

Although, this car is also fun to drive, it feels heavy compared to the nimble mini. I was going to do some power mods, but I think instead, I better get some coil-overs for the MR, or I will be chasing the Mini at track days. However, I still have a Mustang for that duty.

The only downside is now, with only two spots in the garage, I had to take my track car to my dad's. However, he has enjoyed banging around in my Cobra more than I have ... especially with all the goodies it has.

Looking forward to hanging and meeting some of you guys ... and gals.

Your Evo is sweet. I must give that car props: to me, those gunmetal BBS rims with the fat, bright red Brembo calipers beneath... that's one of the coolest sights in the automotive world

It is an amazing machine, capable of insane maneuvers, but it still doesn't have the soul of your wife's MINI, I would imagine.

Again, one man's opinion...

...are you in love with the car or your wife?

She does have impeccable taste.

She appears to be a keeper, good taste in cars. You could always sell the Evo, become a two MINI family.

Nice set of pictures.

Don't laugh ... however, if I sell this Evo, it would only be to buy this one back ... note the vid link from the NASA time attack.

Three years of tuning went into that one ... and I brought my daughter home in it. However, I am curious to know how good a JCW Mini is.

You'll have the JCW parked in your driveway faster than you can say..."the Wife got a MINI and all I got was this way C@@LER JCW MINI!!!"

She did say we would have more room in the garage with a second Mini.

Welcome! I haven't driven the EVO X but the IX and VIII had an edge that I could see getting tiring in day to day use, that and everyone has to drive like a fool when they see an EVO in traffic. I nearly bought an EVO IX instead of the MINI, still wish I'd bought one sometimes but the blend of economy, power, comfort, handling and hte abilitiy to blend in a bit at times while still standing out on the road made the MINI a better fit for day to day use.
Someday I'll have another 4G63 car, and I'll go crazy with upgrades to it too.
Now you've got me all reminiscing.
