you ordered your car last year and you JUST got a build week?!?!?!

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and it's already built. I wonder why the discrepancy

Yup. My dealer was all out of JCW allocations and then I got caught behind the period at Christmas where they idled the plant.

ohhh that ain't so bad ! like 12 weeks...

I officially pulled the trigger on August 12th... right now, I am hoping the Clubbie will be delivered Feb 23rd, or about 27 weeks!!!

Not a gold plated car, not a fancy one, not a funky one either... And NO special deal (MSRP was the deal at the time)... I am really starting to find this wait MUCH TOO LONG ! (Not to mention that my MA is hardly ever communicating with me...) <sigh>

On a side note: I find this allocation thing a total scam.... like they can't figure out dealership next door has a slot available... just another way to make sure they get MSRP... (oops... didn't mean to rant... just getting a little aggravated).

Chris.

Dang, I was hopeful that someone else was actually joining the week 11 thread. *lonely* I expect that being a week 11 production, it'll be here late April or so.

Woohoo, I managed to sell my other car today so now I've got the garage space for the new JCW! Wish I wasn't the only one in week 11 though.

Welcome aboard. Nice to have some company. You're fortunate in that you can use the Owner's Lounge website to track your MINI...

Hang in there guys, my week 7 build MCS has been blazing fast to produce, it's onboard the Faust (sailed Feb. 10th) and is due at Halifax Feb. 17th!
Here's to hoping yours will be similarly speedy!

I ordered last thursday & I'm week 11. I'm a little weary as the stop in production might cause ours to be delayed. Who knows, maybe I'm over-thinking it a bit, it could be Mini figured that into our production date. Regardless, I've waited on a car before when I did ED on my X3: waiting can be fun but thing one is going to be long: approx 8 weeks after production for west coast delivery(?). That means at best end of April!!

At least you didn't wait long between ordering and getting a production number. I ordered in December and I'm week 11. The wait is killing me. I called my dealership today and so far no announced delays on the production line. They're just not doing allocations for April or May production yet...

What did you order?

I think I've been bumped to week 10 myself, so right now I'd also like to tag along And believe it or not, I want it to slide back to where it was (week 12). Well the practical side of me does, the "I want my car!" side of me is happy to get it earlier

Welcome! I tried to update the title of this thread to include week 10 people but I don't seem to be able to do that. I talked to 2 dealerships yesterday about the layoffs in the UK and so far no announcements about delays and what not. Quite a few people I've talked to have said that it wouldn't make sense to lay people off if demand was strong enough that delays would get longer by doing so. Seeing as I ordered last year, I'd like to get my car soon. Hopefully all the disgruntled people have left by the time my car goes on the line.

Yeah, that was unfortunate news for the Mini employees :( Saw that the sale of Minis in the UK is down 58%! Stupid bad economy. Hopefully their anger and frustration isn't taken out on the cars.

Yeah, this build is insanely quick, I ordered Jan. 26th!
Email from the dealer this morning : car is on a train, due March 3rd in Alberta.
Never would have guessed it could be this fast, my first MINI took 2-1/2 months.

Just found out that my status code is 112 (last chance to make changes, production date scheduled), so seems that Week 10 is confirmed for me.

Perihelion, I feel for you with that extra wait time for the boat to get over to your coast.

Perihelion, out of curiosity, when did you decide that you were going to get a Mini? I see at the top that you ordered in December, but just wondering how long you've really been waiting (my wait will be almost exactly 1 year).

I've been in "I should get one of those" mode for several years, but things got serious around August of last year. That's when I started the financial planning and thinking about how I'd sell the other car and all of that. Started talks with the local dealership around that time too. Not as long a wait as you though, how did it end up taking a YEAR?

It took me a year of financial vigilance (paid of my car loan 3 years early), so for 6 months it was just paying and not looking. Finally in November I started actually picking options, etc. Delivery is going to be great on two fronts - a) the car and b) freeing up my paycheck, heh

I actually had kind of shot myself in the foot, when I bought the car I'm driving now (a 07 Hyundai Accent), I didn't even look at Mini because I thought they started at like 30k. 4 months later I saw where they actually started (DOH!).

I think I'll chill in here with you guys if you don't mind. I have no order yet, but I want to place one soon. How long do Coopers usually take from order to delivery?

Welcome! How long depends on your dealer's allocations for the car you want. Best case scenario, you find the car you want on the lot and you don't wait at all. Otherwise, you put an order in and your dealer slots you in as soon as possible.

@Cameroon
Good work paying down your debts, in this economy, cash is king. I started out looking at an S and ended up ordering the JCW...
