Car was in a MINI club before I was...
I bought my 04 Mini S in 06, it had 10k miles on it, and I hated it. I had just recently blown the engine out of my 05 Subaru WRX project car, and needed another car to get me by...so I went to the same Subaru dealership that I've bought 9 new Subarus from expecting to buy a Suby...wrong, the company vp told me he got a mini in on trade and I ought to try it out...after a fair amount of kicking and screaming I drove the car expecting to despise it. It handled like a friggin dream...but it was still ugly as sin. So, I bought it anyways, I figured I'd drive it for a few months and then get another STI...wrong! I've had my Mini since then, and after 62k miles, and several issues with the car...try prying my cold, dead hands from that shifter! Bonus: my mini already had the mini motoring club stickers on it.

Hey now, to each his own. I've been building drag subies for 5 years. I love me some scoobs (00-2007) but my love is dwindling as each year model keeps getting uglier as the creature comforts are being added. The mini vaguely resembles the 02-04 bug eye impreza, so i can deal. The Coop has grown on me more than I thought it could have, it's fully loaded, no detail spared, and yet its got enough go-power to satisfy me on my daily drive. It's not fast, but it scoots. I installed a 15% reduction underdrive pulley, intake, and its got a dinnen chip. Not quite the 670 whp drag monster I'm accustomed to, but its kept the speeding tickets down to a MINImum.
I suppose Subes and Minis alike are a taster's choice, they have their fans and foes. They're two completely different cars. The suby says, "Let's f*** some sh** up! AWD donuts, anyone?!" Meanwhile, the mini says, "Let's just go, man, put some tunage on and lets see how far this tank of gas will get us!" It's nice to have a bit of both worlds. I still am quite taken with the panorama moonroof, windows down, Harmon Kardon sound system on a 70 degree day. Yes please, and thank you.

Couldn't agree more, sometimes its nice to do without the snarl and 8 mpg that my high horse power subarus have to offer. I love them dearly and I wouldnt give them up, but my mini, she's one sexy kitten. I ride her all day long, and at the 42 mpg I'm getting out of my manny trans, she's a cheap date too. What can I say? Ive gone lesbian for my car, I hope my boyfriend will understand...
Well hello, I didn't think I would switch to a FWD again after driving an F-body for a few years. I do miss the torque but I just got tired of the T/A breaking down all the time.... I guess welcome to the club from one newb to another.

I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body, so does that make my MINI a lezie?
Welcome to MINIs, you gotta try a track day, very fun in MINI. I think there is one near Joilet, I forgot the name but its like a country club track.
I know which one youre talking about, they have open track days, but most people are dropping big money to be a part of that motor club, lots of BMW's. My car club has track days in Byron spring through fall.
