Week 4 (1/18-1/24/09) Support Group
The (http://www.ais-live.co.uk/AIS%20Live...uthampton.html) site now shows the ETAs for each into Halifax as:
Mignon: 20090204080000 = 2/4/09 at 800 GMT or 3a.m. EST
Otello: 20090204180000 =2/4/09 at 1800 GMT or 1 p.m.
The Otello at 7pm EST this evening is about 360 nautical miles northwest of Halifax. http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SBLW
At about 20knots, that puts her 18 hours out. That confirms the original ETA of 1 pm tomorrow.

Looks like the Otello (Othello) is just about at Halifax. Wish the Mignon would report in...

For some reason, the Wallenius (WW) site is now showing the Mignon arrival to be tomorrow. When it does arrive, it will show up on the marinetraffic map, which relies on radio frequency identification. The Sailwx locator relies on the ship's crew radioing in weather conditions and location. Obviously, the Mignon crew isn't bothering to do that.
dvhone,
keep an eye on the Halifax harbor tomorrow, and you should see the Mignon.

It was very nice watching the progress.

Here's a Halifax webcam I found...not exactly showing the ships, but at least you can see the weather...

The Othello is docked at Halifax now http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/

It made room for the Mignon...shown docked at Halifax. It's the first time I've been able to track it, but now my little car is no longer on it! WW site lists it as " LINER RELEASE HALIFAX, NS 05-02-2009 08:08:35".
Soon it starts the next leg of it's journey, a long train ride from East coast to West coast...my little car will have seen more of Canada than I have!!!

Today's weather for MINIs in Halifax is :
Today
High : -7°C | POP : 60%
Tonight
Low : -14°C | POP : 40%
I hope none of us have the cold weather start-up knocking!

What we don't know won't hurt us?
Starting the next phase of my tracking obsession...just registered with CN rail. Hope they approve me so I can watch it's journey unfold.
Bon voyage Othello and Mignon MINIs!

Have fun riding the rails.
I hope nobody will mind if I join this support group since my "official" Week 3 seems to be way ahead of me shipping wise. I was one of the Mignon rejects when that porkchop of a ship decided to come back to Southampton. My Clubbie got unloaded off that rustbucket and put on Otello.
Thank you for not kicking me out :D

Hope you didn't get bumped by me...but the Otello is ahead of the Mignion; it left Halifax yesterday, while the Mignion just put into port this morning...

Guess I'm back in the dark until it shows up here. I'll try calling BMW-ca to see if they can give me updates...doubt it though...

Things are starting to make sense now. The reason that the wait for my car was so short in Southampton is that there was a boat full of cars off-loaded from the Mignon, filling the Otello up that much faster.
zoltiz,
Any idea what forced the Mignon to turn around?
The Mignon is just now departing Halifax Harbor for New York. http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/
You're going to be real happy you have the Cold Weather package, given the fact you got the convertible. I love driving with the sunroof open and the window down, and the heated seats make that possible in chilly weather.
According to ShipAIS (as of 12 days ago), the Pacific Breeze is due to arrive in Panama tomorrow (Friday, the 6th) at 11:00 hours (GMT?).
I know I'll be watching... for this... here.
