Proud MINI owner - as of yesterday!

Wooohoo!!! I'm officially a MINI owner!!!

I cannot get over how FUN this car is. I just want to drive... errr MOTOR all day long! Here are some pics. Her name is Roxanne, she's a 2005 Cooper S 6-spd manual with 15k miles:

http://picasaweb.google.com/LoriCz/LoriSNewMiniYAAAAY#

Newbie questions:
- What type of gas to you use? Dealer said mid-grade is okay but I thought I was supposed to use Premium?
- What's up with the miniature cup holders? Any advice for where to find travel mugs small enough? So far I found a water bottle that fits well, but none of my mugs fit. :-/
- I used to see MINI's all the time, but since I got mine (yesterday afternoon) I haven't seen any at all. Why is this?? I read somewhere on here that they're magnetic and the polarity keeps them spaced apart. Hrmph.

Starbucks has mini travel mugs that fit great and hold a full cup, also.

Congrats. Your fuel question is exhaustively dealt with on NAM. Recommend doing a search to get every and all opinions out there.

Personally, I use 93 octane Shell because (until Jan 2010 when ethanol becomes mandatory) you can still get 100% gas --at least in Alabama.

Congrats on your ride.

Very nice!! Love the pics. Welcome to NAM. The back middle cupholder works if I need to bring a travel mug along. A bit hard to reach back there sometimes, though.

Have fun motoring.

Congrats on your MINI and love the color. I too use Shell 93 Octane and had been told by my MA (motoring adviser, MINIspeak for salesman) to use only premium gas in the MINI.

I have a MINI mug my daughter gave me for Father's Day. You can find MINI mugs on miniusa.com.

By your photos, looks like the whole family is enjoying the motoring. Welcome to NAM where you're a perfect fit.

Thanks so much

Thank you all for the nice compliments and very warm welcome!!

I think CarMax used mid-grade gas when they filled the tank. I've noticed that sometimes when I'm slowing down the exhaust pops... not the normal wugwugwug sounds but like wugwugwugPOP. I'll try premium when I fill up.

Oh and I did get the warranty at CarMax... I normally don't do that when I buy a car but it seemed like a good deal ($1599 for 3yrs). Thanks for confirming my gut feeling.

Almost time to leave for work - my co-workers are going to absolutely flip when they see my new ride! I can hardly wait!

Congrats!

Premium -- makes the car hummmmmmm....

ANd if you're like me, I need some COFFEE in the mornings. I found a 21 oz Starbucks travel mug (looks like a venti-sized Starbucks paper cup, with a black travel top) that fits snugly in the very tiny cupholders. (I used to have a 24oz giant silver mug, but I got tired of mug-holding-shifting-driving, and the subsequent mess cleanup when I stopped at work.)
