I don't understand you people!

Sorry for the no-doubt repeated topic, but how on Earth do you wait this long for your car to be delivered??? I mean, my Mini has been "awaiting transport" at the dock for over a week and it's driving me nuts!!!

I have ordered 3 previous BMW's before with a wait of 3 months each, and each time I just wait until I get the call from the dealer telling me it's in and then the excitement starts. The wait for my MCS is unbearable. I have come to the conclusion that it is the result of the customization of the vehicle.

When I ordered my BMW's, there has always been one or more similar cars on the lot that I can inspect, so I know exactly what my car will look like. With the Mini, that's not the case. I am very anxious to see exactly what MY mini will look like, and I am just itching to see what the drive will be like. Sure, I have taken a test drive. But it's not MY Mini. All the stories I hear on this forum make me believe that I will enjoy the car to no end, but I want to experience it for myself.

OK, I guess I'll go back to reading more threads on this forum and keep myself entertained until the day finally comes...

It's an issue of maturity. The more mature you are, the less you need instant gratification.

For me, the wait's been unbearable.

there is no solution to the seemingly endless wait for your MINI. All it takes it time and a little bit of patience, and like you said, just budy yourself with the forum and reading the manual, test driving other MINIs, etc. You'll be glad when your MINI gets here!

it's tough. really is. mine was "awaiting transport" for about 10 days. and 17 days a VDC. So you just hang out here. Get to know those in this wonderfully, insane community. It helps. Or you could do what I requested of my doctor, but he said no - I asked for a drug induced coma for eight weeks.

13 days and counting at the VDC.
The OL says estimated delivery 8-7-08.....guess not.

There goes my maturity rating, cuz i'm go'n nuts!

Why, in my day when you got your MINI in less than a year you were lucky!

ahhh yes, the dreaded wait...

Thank goodness I found NAM to help me pass the time. It really helps sharing your impatience with fellow MINI owners.

The wait is SO worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat...this coming from a very "gotta have it NOW" kinda person.

I'm just worried that all this anticipation has set expectations so high that I will be disappointed when it actually gets here... .

The wait is part of the FUN !!!!

The anticipation.

The daydreaming.

The planning of the mods.

The second guessing your options.

The counting down of the days.

The tracking of your MINI through production and shipping.

The call from your SA to confirm your MINI has arrived.

The counting down of the hours until you pick it up.

ENJOY the wait. You won't have another for several years ! Unless you're Cybergypsy, of course.

OMG. I waited 2 years for my 02 to get here. ordered in 2000. After being without a mini for 10 years. You newbies don't know what real waiting and longing really is.

Well, I have wanted one for 7 years, and due to life's circumstances was finally able to get one this year.

So, although I didn't have an order in, I have been waiting and lusting for my MINI a very long time!

I have my die-cast MINI, MINI keychain, and a MINI car cover from wayyyyy back then! (yes, I bought a car cover for a car I didn't have! And it won't fit the Clubman! LOL!)

This is a matter of much serious weight,
how to survive the elongated MINI wait;
Oh I wish I could give you pearls of wisdom,
but alas for that I'm in the land of Puzzledom;
For on that fateful day I did not to my MA speak
of colors and packages and options I didst seek;
No, I could not bring myself to anticipation coddle,
I wanted it straightaway, & bought the floor model.

Last summer. . .

"Mommm, we're hungry!"
"Yes, I know kids. Just 5 more minutes. . . "
"MOMMMM!"
"I only have 4 more pages on NAM to read, you guys. Settle down!"

"Honey, have you done any dishes in the last few days?"
"SSHH! Tagus is crossing the Panama Canal! Go to Subway for heaven's sake, and leave me alone!"

This summer: we're fed, house is cleaner (but given the choice to do housework or drive, well, the car takes the front seat!

You'll be fine once your baby gets here!

It's nice to know that we're all ready to be carted off somewhere. Seriously, are there any other cars that draw this type of crowd? I finally feel like I'm home and I owe it to my MINI.

So the cold sweats will stop eventually? That's good.

Mine is still stuck "on order". I still don't have a production date yet!

You get used to it when you've done it a few times (but its not any easier).

The first one, my wife did most of the obsessing, the OL definitely seemed like a cult. The second one was more "mine" than "ours", that was bad. The last couple, I learnt how to relax and let it happen. Its only when things got held up that things got bad. (2 weeks at Southampton!!!, arrived at the dealer on Saturday, we could pick him up till Wednesday!!!)
