Yes, I have the same desire. I didn't get anything extra from the base model to keep the price low but I keep wanting to call and add a few things (MSW, Leather, and Piano Black Trim). /sigh I must resist the urge.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to hold off on adding anything else, but the the longer I have to wait until production starts, the harder it is to resist.
I ended up going to the dealer again, just to look at the headliner. Once I made up my mind about the upholstery (that took a lot of soul searching, didn't really want to spent that much money for leather), I chose the dark anthracite headliner in the end.
When you say upgrading the steering wheel, are you talking about the Multifuctioning one, or the JCW one? I have heard great things about the MFS wheel, it's supposed to be much easier changing all your radio settings.

siggiS, you picked that carbon black lounge leather. I think that looks really good and would have been my pick as well. So if I had that too, I'd totally get the anthracite to match.

I picked the english oak trim, which I don't see that often. I think it would look great with a matching wood trim steering wheel (and of course the anthracite headliner). I wish the selector tool on the MINI site provided a 360 view of the interior.

Anyway, absolutely no buyer's remorse here. I know I'll love what I picked when it ever gets here. It's just the production time is so far off.

kewlby, The Australian MINI site (go to www.mini.com and select Australia as the country) had a 360 view of the interior, although the steering wheel is on the right side. And yes, I have way too much time on my hands The various country sites have different functionality from the U.S. site. I find the US configurator to be lacking in comparison.

Damn you jumbshrimp! Now that I've seen it with my choices, I'm even more tempted to get the headliner!

I'm taking collections.

Seriously, nice find jumboshirmp! That is a much better site than the usa configurator. The exterior colors, especially, are a better representation of the actual colors.

Anyway the wait is tough, I have not fell victim to the adding extras yet but the tempetation is there. Thinking of getting rid of the run-flats, but what all season tire do the put on?

I went with English oak, and the wood MFSW, and anthrocite.

I have never posted my list now that I think about it, here goes.

CR/B MCSm
Red leather/black interior
16" Bridgespokes w/All season tires (I am buying after market 17's, will keep the all seasons for winter)
Anthrocite
Center Armrest
Chrome line interior
Cold weather package (Planning a move in the next few years aback to snow country, thats why the all season tires also)
English oak interior
LSD
Wood MFSW
Rear fogs
Xenon

I will add the JCW Aero kit myself, and also the JCW Suspension. (That's why I didn't opt for the sport suspension)

Can't wait!

I agree, it's a long wait. Here's some ideas to keep you occupied in the mean time...https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=150156

The wait time before production is really hurting my wallet (or will). I've added three options since my order and last night I was debating whether to get the anthracite headliner. I need convince myself to stop looking at the options.
I ordered
Cooper S
Black Bonnet Stripes
Pepper White
Black Roof/Mirrors
Cold Weather Package
Convenience Package
Premium Package
Xenons
Rear Fog Lamp
6-Speed Manual
16" Bridge Spoke
Anthracite Headliner
Leatherette
Nav. System
Hi-Fi Sound System
Interior Surface Piano Black

I told myself I can't change anything at all

Ok I added the anthracite today. It's the last thing I'm adding...scout's honor. I think I have everything I need or want in my MINI for now.

awyrn: looks like you have almost all the options. There's nothing else to add.

OK......if you folks can change your order so can I!!!! I think I'll add the white tail/headlights and the rear fog lights. I might even change from DS/B to CR/B. I also told myself that I wouln't change anything, but it seems to be all the rage. AND yes..... if you jump off of a bridge I just might too.......if it looked like a fun thing to do.

If you do any long distance travelling I think Cruise is a must. I can't belive I used to drive 15, 16 hours without it.

It is also good for gas mileage, if you're in a place where it could be effictively used.

That's really the only thing that i think is a "must", and even then only if you can take advantage of it, which most people can. Everything else falls in the luxury department, at least for me. YMMV.

Adding options....see what you guys started.

I agree, I think the base models are just fine. Any added options are just nice-to-haves.

Ok I digress...I was at the dealer today with my sister, who is also looking at getting a MINI. We got to test drive the car without the SA in the car. When it was my turn, I must say I was a bit less uninhibited about really "testing" what the car can do. OMG the acceleration on the MCS is FAST! I doubt if I'll ever really drive my car to it's full potential, but it's nice to know I could.

Here are some other new things I learned about the Cooper today:
- when you open the door, the window goes down a little bit to clear the seal. When you close the door, the window goes back up to create a good seal.
- If the car comes with runflats, there is no spare tire on the car.
- all coopers come with slightly tinted windows from the factory.

Hrm, yes I think I will be calling tomorrow to add the multifunction steering wheel. I am also considering the anthracite headliner and piano black trim to blacken out the interior. Any thoughts on that? Of course yes the last two items are "just nice-to-haves" but the MSW is looking like a must since I do a decent chunk of highway driving

mike, the piano black trim and anthracite is going to look really nice. I think those two go hand in hand. I've seen that combo at the dealership and it looks great.

Yep I just found an awesome picture of what it would look like so I called the dealership today and had them add the trim and headlinger, along with the MSW. So 750 more than the stock model but at least I'll have cruise control and all black interior. Check this pic out. It's gonna look nice...

Just found out I am week 36 or 37

THANKS TO THIS SITE I WAS ABLE TO CONTACT ASK MINI. DEALER HAS BEEN NO INTERVENTION FOR HELP. I ORDERED CHILI RED CLUBMAN S ALL BELLS AND WHISLES. NO COLD PACK BECAUSE WE LIVE IN THE SOUTH ON A PRIVATE ISLAND AND IT RARELY GETS COLD. I AM FROM THE NORTH SO I STILL HAVE MY THICK SKIN BLOOD IN MY VEINS. THIS IS A MID LIFE CRISIS PURCHASE. HUSBAND BOUGHT A LEXUS I BOUGHT A MINI. HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE IT BEFORE YEARS END. WE HAVE ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIELS SO THEY SHOULD FIT NICELY IN A CLUBMAN.

I have promised not to add any more options! I checked the owner's lounge today....okay, okay...I check it everyday...in fact, sometimes I check it twice a day....and they have finally updated my options list with all of my options. I can't wait until our cars actually go into production!!!

performance or all seasons?

When I placed my order I opted for the all season run flats but I've been reading threads regarding the standard tire options and I'm more confused than ever as to which way to go.

Anyone in a snow region have any thoughts on tire options? I am strongly considering aftermarket wheels and tires so it probably isn't a big issue. I thought it might be better to have something to get me through the first winter in case I don't get anything right away.

Some of the posts say that the road noise and hard ride are worse with the all seasons. I'm running out of time to change back to the standard tires and was hoping for some feedback. Anyone with insight on this?

No real insight, just letting you know what I plan on doing.

I went with the all season runflats, and I plan on also going with aftermarket 17's and non runflats performance tires for the non winter times. I'm keeping the 16 inch all season runflats for any snow like weather I may hit after I move back up north.

That was my plan all along as well so I guess I will stick with it. I think I'm reading too many threads on NAM! There was a few comments about the all seasons not being great in the snow and a rough ride and the need for snow tires rather than all seasons if its more than an inch of snow.

I just need our build week to get started so I'm not constantly re-thinking my options!

Week 37 Time Tables

I do not know if any of you have asked this before of Ask Mini, but I called them last night and got a walk through on the time tables:

Once in production - 14-16 days
Factory Sign off - 1 day
Shipping Request - 1 day ( transport to the Port for Cargo Vessel)
Travel across the Pond - 10-15 days if on the East Coast and depending on the weather. We are in Hurricane Season right now in South Carolina. IIf I understood correctly the Cargo Vessel stops in more than one port of call - New York, Newport News, Charleston, Miami then around to the Panama Canal. I thinks there were some stops in between, but I cannot recall the names of the ports.
Arrives at Port- 1 days customs
Arrives in Greenville, SC - that is our custom depot - 10 days for installation of special features
Arrives in Charleston - 1 day
Dealer Contact - As soon as they have completed their inspection and post travel clean up - 2 days
Pick Up - write the check - minutes
Drive away - A.S.A.P.

Well my Week 37 friends, I just got off the phone with the Ask Mini customer rep, and she told me my production week is now 36. I'm going to move over to the week 36 support group. Perhaps we'll meet up again on the ship going across the pond. C'ya!
