Week 37 support group
Thanks wizeguy. You haven't posted in a while. Did you ever find out if you made the Caribbean Hwy? For that matter, did ANYONE make the C.H.? It seems like all posts mention either making the Indy II or sitting on the dock waiting for the next ship.

Hey Casey- was just reading back through some threads and saw yours. For whatever its worth, I think Otis is a great name and I love your MINI selection. I thought long and hard about going with a BRG with the tuscan beige. He is looking good sitting there watching the ships roll in. Hopefully he'll be catchin a ride this week.
Is your Port of Entry Charleston? I was wondering if Ohio was the same as PA. Maybe I'll get through QA in time to catch the Don Quijote this week too.

Hey minimo - are you heading for Charleston too or does Cleveland have a different port of entry?
I know what you mean about the blackhole. I was told by an ASK Mini person on the 8th of Sept that my mini was finished and waiting transport.
Well, for the last 3 days no one has been able to tell me if it was actually finished. Twice the Reps have said they thought there might be a problem with the database. The automated response at 866-BLK Hole has been consistent saying the Mini is waiting transport.
Finally this morning the status in the OL has been updated to Awaiting Transport. So I am hopeful that my Mini is really awaiting a ride stateside.
I hope it will be on the Don Quijote on the 16th for the ride to Charleston.
FWIW - this has been fun and frustrating at the same time. My MA at Flow Mini says that during production it is very hard to know exactly where the car is because it changes so fast.
Mini takes several days to lay out all the parts so there are no mistakes in production - it is interesting that they do not have a better (faster & more accurate) method of tracking the production. As sophisticated as the production line is I would think each vehicle could have a bar code or RF ID tag that would automatically and instantly update the database that supports ASK MINI and the dealers.
I hope you find some good news soon on your status.

I just got off the phone with the "crack-line" after a long weekend with no updates. I got the good news that my MINI was born today and was released to the carrier! WOOT!
Now the wait begins to see if he can catch a ride on either the Don Q, The Patriot or the Southern Highway this week.

Congrats Kellypgh!
Alas, I called the crack line this morning and it told me that I'm currently in the paint shop with an estimated completion date of 9/13
Hmmmm - somethin' ain't quite adding up. Good thing I've had a lot of practice waiting.

Does anyone know the ship shedule this week?
My car was built 9/8, and arrived at the port on 9/10 and is still sitting at the port of exit, with no information about what ship it will be on.
I find it rediculous that people BUILT on 9/11 were able to make the 9/12 ships and I'm still sitting there with no hope in sight.

Once you have your VIN, you can check this website (http://www.2wglobal.com/www/customer...LaunchPage.htm), click auto cargo and enter your VIN. Once assigned to a Wallenius Wihelmsen ship your MINI will appear as "Booked." It took about four days after I received my completion date before it appeared on the WW website.
Hope this helps.
I emailed my MA last week, and she got back to me today saying that she doesn't have any shipping info for the car and that she will be out of town until the 22nd. (grr).
Long story short, it's been at the port of exit sitting for 5 days, and I have no idea as to which company or ship it will eventually go out on.
I would assume that if it was on the k-line either my MA or the OL would know that it was en route. Maybe I'm wrong about this assumption.
How long can they possibly make it sit at the port of exit fully finished?
It would seem to me that they would want it moved as quickly as possible.
I'm just completely annoyed by this process at this point.

Hey Red Fred,
Did you talk to any of the Customer Service reps when you called the crackline? My mini was listed as being in the paint shop with a completion date of 9/13 too but when I talked to them today they said my car was completed and on it's was to the dock!!! Yahoo!!!

Boy l hate saying that" My car made the boat! My car made the boat!"(Happy dance), when all you guys are still waiting
Looks like lt'll be on the Traviata going thru Panama on the 28th and into Pt. Hueneme on 10/6. My guy will need someone to the upper decks with so he doesn't get scared when the ship starts rockin'. l can't imagine what it would have been like if l would have been on the "K" line. Waiting for...ever to see where it is, heck since Fri. l've been stressing not knowing for 3 days.

I have no problem saying congrats to each of you!!
I'm hoping that my support of others will bring good karma towards my car.
Anyone think that my car got damaged on it's way to the port??
I'm at the point where I'm invisioning the worst.

On the Dock?
My MCS has been at the port awaiting transfer to a ship for over 4 days now.
It was built on 9 Sept.
The Askmini CR person told me this morning that when a car reaches the dock, they do not get any more updates. Is the true?
My MA is supposed to be looking up my current status-but, as usual, he has not called back with any information!

Which way did they go?
I have only heard instance when a Mini was loaded on the ship and was delivered to the wrong port.
I have not heard of any Minis being damaged in transit, but then I am not engineering the train from the Plant.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen (WW) has been bringing Minis to the Charleston Port in the past. So, the Manager at our Dealership said she would be surprised if it was on a K-Line. But, anyting is possible.
I feel like I am watching pot of water trying to boil using a single match.
Hopefully I will be on the next WW vessel out this week on the 19th, since I have sitting at the dock of Southhampton since 9/8/08.

Mimio56,
I didn't talk to any of the Customer Reps - sort of embarassed to call too much.
Although, given what you've just said, I may have to get over myself and call again!
Glad to hear you're on your way!!

No, I don't think your car got damaged, although I know where you're coming from. I read a post here where someone's car got damaged on the ship and the dealer kept it for quite a bit of time afterward to fix it up before having the expectant MINI owner take delivery. There was quite a debate as to whether he should take delivery.
It seems that there are quite a few of us waiting at the dock even though our cars were completed the middle of last week. I'm pretty frustrated myself. But I'm trying to maintain a good attitude. It's just really hard some days.
Status Updates
I have never gotten word through MINI that my car was shipped. The Walensius website (see below for link), however, showed that it was loaded on the Independence II at 1:50 pm last Friday. The ship left the port at 11:22pm that night. I am able to track the ship's course on another website (www.sailwx.info).
The Owner's Lounge still shows the car awaiting transportation. I think there's a good chance your cars are not sitting in port, but rather have been loaded and shipped. MINI just doesn't do a good job of reporting that info, after the cars leave the factory.
