I just called 1-866-ask-MINI and the automated response said that my car was in the body shop scheduled to be completed 9-8-08, that's today!

That would be so nice! I am tired of driving my 1994 187K mile Jeep Grand Cherokee!

Just called ASK MINI and was told that Bronwyn is in the paint shop as well with a 9/9/08 completion date! Perhaps Bronwyn & Bianca will be shipmates as they're both headed for Brunswick, GA! Did you file your "adoption papers" at Global Imports Mini as well?

Awaiting Transport

Yesterday was a really good day. Our Mini passed final QC and it now waiting to be handed over to a carrier.

Hope she can catch a ride on one of the ships leaving this week.

I called Ask Mini today and I am with you n3mpr, passed QC yesterday and now awaiting to be loaded on a carrier. Are you destined for Charleston, SC too? It would be awesome to catch one of the ships this week. I keep checking the Wallenius website but have not had any success.

I called and found out that my car is awaiting a carrier to be loaded on a ship. How do I find out which ship it is on?

How is everyone getting detailed information about where you are at specifically in production? Whenever I call (got Ryan today) he told me I'm in production with a scheduled completion of the 13th but said they can no longer get/give details about where the MINI is in the process...call your MA. Well I've been down that road and he takes several days for a return call and I really don't want to drive him crazy with my neurotic need to know every little detail of my "baby's" status through the birth canal!

Am I just not far enough along or is Ryan not one of the more understanding personnel at ask-mini?

Yay, mine's in the body shop and still set for 9/11 completion. I wonder how much lead time is needed from completion to get on a ship? Anyone know?

kellypgh, I understand that the Ask Mini folks can not access, or perhaps do not have access to, the details in the production database. The MA, or the Finance person seem to have access to the actual production status code. I would work with your dealer until you found a productive resource. ajm - wk37

Yippe!
I just heard that Rosie should be completed on the 11th. How many days after completion does it take between "completion" and awaiting transport? I'm hoping to get on the ship leaving the 15th.

Ask Mini

Just thought you might want to know that I was told by Ask Mini, while finding out my car is on a truck to Southampton, that they will longer be able to assist me with the progress of my Mini. They said I will have to rely on my MA, who by the way lacks communication skills, to find out if, when, how, where, what, etc. on my mini. Gee they, Ask Mini, were so helpful.

Now I do not know what to do besides wait and see.

so, does anyone know how long our cars will sit waiting around for a ship? I'm hoping my clubman gets on the 9/13 boat to NY or the 9/16 boat at the latest!

Wait time at port of embarkment

Ask Mini said it depends on the following;

availability of a carrier
filling up a cargo container with minis and bmws to ship
weather
location - east coast, west coast (trip through the Panama Canal), gulf
coast
distribution center

ASK MINI gave me that info this morning, Sept 7-13th. The wife is pregnant and due Sept 6th. Sure would be neat to have them both "born" on the same day!

(And good thing it isn't arriving at the dealer that day, decisions, decisions! )

I'll keep you all posted!
How is the wife and new buggy doing????

For everyone who is wondering the time from completion and getting on a ship, there are definitely lots of variables which can affect the wait time.

I keep jumping (aka lurking ) in week 36 and they are all 3-7 days ahead of us in the process so you can get a good idea of how long it takes as well as some of the links to the ships in Southhampton.

It seems like its a matter of timing to the port and when the next ship is leaving and also whether you are east vs west coast.

I just found out I have a completion date of 9/11. Does anyone know where cars comming to Dallas enter the US? Just wondering if I just have to wait for it to be trucked all the way across the country.

FINALLY! Someone else who got theirs through Global Imports! I'd been posting off and on to find someone else. When I put my money down on Bianca they told me they had 12 allocations and 6 were already filled!

I talked to Rick in Finance today and he said that Bianca is awaiting transport and she should be on the Independence II sailing into Brunswick, GA on 9/29. From there he said 5 - 7 days before I get her.

Maybe I'll see you when I pick her up! I'm hoping to be able to get her on Saturday, October 4th.

Sitting on the Dock at the Southampton Bay

Wow, twenty days sitting at the dock waiting on a transport. That seems scary.

I found out yesterday, via a real person at ASK MINI, that my "Rupert" was supposedly completed 9-6 and was awaiting transport, but so far his VIN is not showing up anywhere and my MA is in the dark as well. The rep I spoke with at ASK MINI indicated that once the vehicles leave the factory they could not provide any further info - the automated info on the phone and in in OL indicate still in production. I would think the "third" time around I would be calmer, but this has been the worst wait ever.

I just heard the same thing. I got official word from automated Ask Mini, my car has been released to a carrier!

Ughhh.... I want the car now!

Sighh..... That just means I'll appreciate it that much more when it shows up, right?
