Must be nice!! I am sooo jealous...

 

Hey, I finally found my place....Week 32, bounced up from week 34. I placed my order here in Germany the first week of June and have been waiting patiently ever since. We can't track our vehicles on the Mini USA site because our orders won't reflect in their database. So, I've been relying on my sales guy to check on the status once a week or so. I should have a VIN assigned soon. The good news is that my MCS won't need to make the transatlantic journey just yet. It should only take 7-10 days to get here from Oxfordshire.

 

Yeah, I'm so unobservant that I didn't notice until halfway through the movie that two of them were Coopers and there was only one MCS. They just looked so cool running in a pack like that. I really want to go to a Mini rally sometime...would be fun to see all of them together!

Confirmed thru 1-866-ASK-MINI that I am in week 32. Mini Sales associate let me change a few options on Monday. It doesn't show up on OL yet, and ask mini could not pull up that information, makes me a little concerned thou.

 

ASKMINI is much more accurate at this stage than the OL. The OL will probably be a couple of days late on each stage. Just call ASKMINI for daily updates.

 

Call your MA and confirm. OL will be a couple of days slow on any change.

 

Yep. It took three of four days to show that I had added the White Turn Signals.

 

Hmm. I placed my order on Tuesday of this week and was originally told it was scheduled to be built on the week of August 3. I called MINIUSA and they told me it's now the second week of August. :(

Oh well. More time to save up for the down payment, I s'pose.

 

it's all a bit confusing how they get the production weeks!

In the last 7 days.. I have ordered 3 MCS (embarrassing). It's MY first car I ever ordered myself, and I was impulsive. (usually hubby buys and I don't care what it is).

Anyway, Car #1 was order Fri. July 18th in the evening. The very next day - 12 hours later, I wanted to change the color and couldn't - as it was locked for production! I have the production number, so I am able to call Ask-Mini on it... and that car is being born tomorrow!

Car # 2 with the new color was ordered on Sat. July 19th, but the salesman suggested a sunroof (which I never wanted) for "resale" value. I was so happy that I was able to change my color and not lose my $1000 deposit, I added it, and regretted it by the time I was home that evening. Zipped off an email to remove the sunroof... but by Monday morning it too was too late! This car will be born July 28th! (I have a production number and checked it for fun).

Car #3.. I was hoping it would enter production as fast, but probably the salesperson is afraid I'll change my mind again! but I am all set no changes, but I've been checking and it is "in Production, which no set start date". I just called and spoke to a person, and they said it is scheduled for week 32... bummer.

 

Ah... and the balance of the Force is restored.

I don't think that's what happened to your third order. Dealerships only have a fixed and limited amount of build slots available each week/month, and you used theirs up. In any case, now you're stuck here with me in Build Week 32! ...So... Don't say "bummer" to me! 'Round my parts, my choices were a Week 32 '08 or a sometime-in-October '09.

Now, we wait together!

 

 

Congrats Although I too view my wait time as an opportunity to empty all my change jars and scrounge for a down payment, I wish I could bump up! That's great news.

And don't worry it's "Justacooper"...Sometimes I think I should have gone with "justacooper", getting great gas mileage is a definite plus! Plus you still look cool.

I was wishful thinking that the Ask-Mini rep made an error last night and that I'd be week 31, but no - I am for sure week 32. I asked about the possibility of it being bumped up, not likely at this point. He also told me that this was the last week he showed of 2008's being built. He was showing no other builds for 2008 past this week. 2009's actually would start at the beginning of week 36 (3 weeks after). I am so obsessed with this purchase.. I need to get off this board and stop thinking about my mini!

 

Wow, you took the thoughts right outta my head!

My husband even went as far as to turn on the Wii, place a controller in my hand, and slowly close my laptop, saying, "You need to stop". Hehe.

Oh, wait... that's actually kinda sad... I'm so consumed...

 

I know, we need another hobby! My wife keeps asking, what are you doing on the computer - "Oh, nothing important." I reply. Meanwhile she's on her Mac surfing the net. Maybe she thinks I am doing something shady - leering under the bonnets of scantly clad MINIs, , conversing with MINIacs, and generally participating in odd unhealthy behaviour!! Yeah, we need to back away from the computer... really slowly.....

I just called 1-866-ask-mini and they gave me a vin number for my MCS. Said that production will start first week of August for sure. That means I should be able to get the car anywhere from the last week of August to the first week in September! I'm so glad July is almost over.

 

I called about my JCW. They could only tell me it has been requested and appoved for production the week (32) of August 4-10. I told them that my 50th birthday is August 4th, so they're making a request to have it born on that day. How cool!

They were very nice...and knew about all the BMWs I've bought.

 

To be fair, when our current car started to die, she did point to a MINI and say - what's that car? It's kind of nice. Hiding my enthusiasm, I told it was a MINI and they get really good gas mileage. Two weeks later we placed an order for the JCW..
Aside from work she has not seen me at the computer this much, so I kinda understand where she is coming from, and I do exactly the same thing - hit the minimize button when she walks by. Maybe if I tell her it's reseach it will go by better..

 

Nice so you'll be in week 31 ... or is the born on date when the car is started or finished? I thought is was finished...? Anyway, hope you get the date, and if I forget - Happy birthday!
