Woohoo!
OMG...I just called for the first time in several days just to double check on my week 32 status and I've been bumped into week 31! It's kind of weird, because he said that I was kind of in both weeks, as it will be running through the production line starting July 31, but finishing up at the beginning of week 32. YAY!

Nice!

I was originally told August 3 by the dealer, which I assumed meant Week 31. However, MUSA said it'd be week 32, which is August 4. Close enough for me. I only ordered on July 22, however, so I'm really happy to have it be built so quickly.

Thanks Chugiak, that is awesome news for you! I ordered on July 16th, and when I called ASKMINI this morning, they said I was still scheduled for production week 32. I checked this afternoon, and OL had finally updated to "Scheduled for Production" So I called ASKMINI again, and they told me my vehicle had "entered production"! I'm confused, does that mean I am now a week 31? Regardless, I'm excited to see something happening!

Chugiakgirl, I wonder if our cars will be on the same boat, and arrive in Omaha at the same time?!

08 MCCSa, PW/B, Premium / Convenience / Cold Weather packages, Anthracite, Cream White / Piano Black, Punch Carbon Leather, 17" 5-star wheels, Black Sport Stripes - Ordered July 16th

No change for me. I can't take delivery before Sep. 15 so I'm in no rush.

Does the car getting a VIN serve any purpose other than to know that the car exists (on paper, at least)?

With a VIN, I can go get insurance and registration done ahead of time... So I can show up, slap some plates on it, and take off!

That's really awesome! Glad you got your info. According to the guy at ASK MINI that I talked to, I was in production, which means it was to start on July 31 through the line. I hope yours is in the same line! Maybe they'll arrive the same day and we'll pick them up at Markel the same day! How cool would that be?

You need a VIN to get financing locked in (unless you're going through MINI FS or leasing).

Oh yeah...and Twieland, I forgot to mention that PW was the other color that I was wrestling with when deciding which color to get. It's a beautiful color!

Good to know. I'll get online with my bank now that I have my VIN...quick...before rates go up.

Even with a VIN, they still may not lock in a rate for more than 30 days to delivery.

New and unsure of week

Do you think I'm in week 32? Ordered my 08 Clubman (Laser Blue) on Friday (7/25) and was given the production number and VIN by the dealership this AM (Monday).
The paper from the dealer also says code 150 for "in production" and that is the code that came up for me in the owners lounge. I'm almost embarassed to be this exicted about a car at age 51!!!

I've been driving a string of 3/4 ton Suburbans for the past 23 years so it will be fun to be back in a car that is just for me again.... used to have a 1976 TR6 in my former life as a college student!

If you're in production you now you are not week 32 since that's next week. I turn 50 next week when my car goes into production, so I know how you feel.

It all depends on who you ask.

Some consider the week that their MINI's start production their actual production week, while others say it's the week production is actually complete.

So for you, you are starting in week 31 but will (most likely) be done in week 32.

You could be a part of both groups honestly! I don't think anyone would mind

I'd be excited about this car if I was 91!

Cool! I think the Astro Black with white top will look awesome. I had a really hard time waffling back and forth between color choices, but in the end decided to go with the more "conservative" white Clubman since this will be more of a "family car"! :-) Wife and kids still think it's a good color choice.

Would be fun if we took delivery at Markel on the same day!

Don't feel bad, I'm in the same boat. I think my family is getting a little tired of me sitting around on the computer every night checking NAM forums and obsessing over delivery dates!

Holy crap! I had family in town this weekend, and no time to obsessively check my order status. And I just now logged on and found not only my VIN#, but my Mini is going to be born on August 1st...this Friday!!! Today was one of the worse Mondays I've had in a long time, but that news has made my day MUCH better!

Welcome to all that is MINI!

Just thought I would drop in and welcome all you 2008 week 32ers from a 2007 week 32er! Reading through your posts brought back memories of the torment of waiting
Ahhh but it is so worth it!!

I still chat with some of the people who's babies were born at the same time as mine.

Good luck and enjoy... dream... learn...

And remember when you finally take delivery - let the mods begin!

Momentum in Houston. It was the closest and about 6 to 7 miles from my house. There is a bus route straight from my house to the dealership. In case of emergencies, I can pick up or drop off using the bus.
