For most of us, I suspect we will not see any change in the OL status until next week. The lucky few that straddle weeks 31 and 32 are starting to see theirs change.

My wife thought I had totally reverted to a kid again, with my enthusiasm for MINIs and MINI forums. I told her, MINIs are contageous, and once afflicted only fellow sufferers can alleviate the pain. Now she tolerates my condition and even asks about the upcoming production week. This condition is highly contantageous, but my wife being very analytical has a natural resistance, however she is weakening. She did have a slight stiffening of her resolve when I told her MINIs have birthdays, but I could tell there was slight rise in her MINI levels already.

Every time I try and convince myself to stop checking OL and calling ASKMINI, I read this thread and can't resist. This is going to be the longest month+ ever.

 

Oh gosh.. I am another lucky one! I called Ask Mini this AM and was told my Mini is IN PRODUCTION and will be completed by August 5th! So - I guess I am straddling week 31 & 32! Started production week 32, ending in week 32.. I am a happy camper!

 

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a MINI, expected birthday 08/05/08! Just got inspired and called ASKMINI. Production has just started! Almost nine weeks of waiting and the birth is almost here.

PS If you need your VIN, ASKMINI will give it to you when they say your MINI is in production.

 

Just called ASK Mini and spoke to friendly Rochelle.... completion/birthday for my new clubman is set for Sat Aug 2nd. I only went to the dealership and ordered on Friday the 25th so it is only 8 days!

From reading the posts this has to be a record! I hope he isn't born prematurely and gets the right amount of care at the factory/womb!

Anybody else on here with an Aug 2nd date that will ship through Charleston?

That's amazing! Most of us have been waiting a month or so. Mine is shipping through SC.

 

I was told my production would begin on the 31. Typically how many days in production? 5?

 

I am usually not very conservative, but I think I will wait until I meet him/her before we decide on a name. I think I'll defer to its' mothers opinion, I've been sort of expecting a boy, but I'll be just as happy if it's a girl!!!

 

Mine started today - probably a week or a little less. You should be done by the 8th. Did you ask for a birthday? Oho...888!

 

jbsim, he/she should be fine! I had ordered 2 other cars prior to the one I am waiting for. They had to cancel and start all over because they both went into production immediately! It had to do with the dealer allotment. So as I am waiting for "My Baby" I am watching the 2 other's that I am giving up for adoption! (I was given the production numbers on the spot). car # 1, order July 18, and completed July 25th! Just 7 days!! Car #2 was ordered July 19, and completed July 28th - 9 days! My FINAL car order was a bit longer wait (think they bumped in incase I changed my mind again... ) and this order was placed July 22nd. Still much better turn around then some others.

Chugiakgirl, seems like it is taking about 7-8 days to complete a car.

 

Wow, unexpected cars! I'm sure some adoptive family will make them good homes. heh heh

 

No, I didn't ask for a birthday. If I call back today, they'll think I'm insane! But I want to know!

New to NAM - Hi all! I've got a MCS on order and am also straddling weeks 31 and 32. I was originally told Week 32 but called yesterday and it's in production! Expected birthday is August 4th. I'm in the DC area and the port will be NY. Can't wait for my mini - I'm torn between wishing these weeks away until delivery and wanting to enjoy my summer as is. I also spend most of my driving time thinking "my mini will handle this turn so much better!" and "bet I could fit into THAT parking spot with my mini!".

On order - MCS, CR/W, Premium, CW, Conv, DSC, rear fog lights (am into symmetry and needed that toggle filled!)

 

I went over things at the dealership on Friday, but over the weekend decided to go with the conv. pkg, anthracite headliner and blue line interior. I had been told that the order would be placed on Monday noon. BUT apparently things changed, the MA said that they had to place by Sat in order for it to go in with their last 08 allotment.

So by the time I got back with them on Monday AM, it was already in production. I didn't want to wait til Nov for an 09 so I'll just have to "make-do" with regular keys, headliner and the grey color line! My excitment over getting it faster than I thought possible overweighed any regret over the "lost" options.

RE names: I've already decided that I'm having a boy (what else is new as I've got 4 sons!) and it will be "Smurf".... laser blue!

 

Sweet, just called and was told I am scheduled for completion August 2nd!

It was kind of embarrassing when the ASK-MINI rep (super nice guy) recognized my last name, told me my phone number and production order #, and said "Hey Tim, I think I talked to you yesterday, didn't I" :-)

Anyway, stoked to be built a week earlier ... wonder if there's any chance I'll get the car by Labor Day weekend ... hmmm ... better not get my hopes up too much!

 

I wonder whether they have some tracking on their computer that logs how many times you call in? I know I breathe a sigh of relief when I get a different person than the last time.

 

Yea, and smarter than that other car too!!!

I am sure you will love Smurf, even with one or two less bells and whistles.

 

When I call, they even know about the previous BMWs I've ordered in the past. One even commented on how he expected I knew the ropes already.
