took delivery on my Mini tonight but it did not happen without problems. 1) my sunroof will not close so i need to take it in on monday so the computer can be programmed and 2) wasn't the premium package supposed to come with the multifunction steering wheel???

*Edited*
Re: MFSW-Comes with Convenience, not Premium. The sunroof thing is annoying (she will have to go to Service for about 2 hours on Monday) but doesn't override the fact that my car is sitting in my driveway!
My dealer threw in a stuffed bulldog, a bulldog keychain, mats, some mints, and we were able to do some last minute negotiations. Overall, extremely happy with my Mini and especially glad that the wait is over.

Here is her first picture!

I've moved to "At Distribution Center" status sometime this evening, too (NOT that I check every couple hours.)

The expected delivery date is showing on the "Order Details" page now, too!

Enjoy your new Mini!

P.S. What is "road block"? Is that the "invisible bra"?

road block is a clear bra, yeah

congratz on your mini, sorry to hear about the sunroof.

multifunction steering wheel is part of the convenience package, not the premium . premium = sunroof, hi fi audio, auto climate

sad that I've memorized the packages:P

At VDC or is it?

Looks like my Clubbie is at the VDC...as of a few hours ago. That probably means the dealer's been doing doughnuts in the parking lot all afternoon. After all, the OO is always late!

Cheers!

It is. But it is not the one on the configuratoer. Our Dealer (Otto's) recommends this one instead and it is cheaper. We live in NEPA so rocks, cinders, etc. on the roadway is a problem.

No MFSW = No Fun

It durn well better! Mine is getting exchanged with the wood wheel which we couldn't get with the conv. package for some reason. But they say it's the same and will work, so I'm letting them try.

I could sell you my old leather wheel, with 3 miles on it or something, Seriously, I will sell the wheel, but I'd be more worried that the rest of the wiring you need to support the multifunction won't be in place if the wheel isn't there...not to mention the programming of the radio, nav, etc to work with it.

Jeeze, if they left off the MFSW on yours, what, will mine have, like a tire missing or something?

And the proper package production codes are on the order? And the online has always said the proper packages? Makes no sense. Let us know what happens.

Cheers!

No, I'm glad you memorized the packages! Thanks for the info.

I was up late last night and early this morning, sitting in the car, READING THE MANUAL. LOL. My neighbors think I'm crazy.

As Hunsingeruk pointed out (thank you!), the MFSW is for the convenience packages, not the premiums. It's been so long since I ordered, I forgot! I guess I'm just a little skeptical because of the sunroof thing but overall, I am extremely happy with my Mini. It's so cute it makes me want to cry!

Hey, theapple, don't sweat the sunroof issue. I had the same problem with my Lexus (after two years of perfect operation) and it turns out it's just a programming issue. The sunroof in these cars isn't just a window that slides back and forth. It's got multiple settings, capabilities, and safety features, and is thus, actually a well calibrated electro-mechanical device. They may have forgotten to calibrate (program) it, or it's possible that they did, but the parameters they set were just on the edge of acceptable limits, and various factors have crept a little, putting the settings out of bounds for acceptable operation. All in all, it sounds like it could be a really simple thing that they'll fix easily, and you'll never have to worry about it again.

Does that mean that they solved the heat causing it not to close issue? I read part of a thread on this being an issue.

You all are so lucky! I'm still on the boat (but at least we're having fun - racing around the deck, drinks by the pool... ) But dammit, I'm antsy to get my car! (though had dreams all last night about arguing with my MA for waaaay overcharging me for the install of the driving lights - blergh!)

I don't know about any problem with the MINI's sunroof, sorry. I was referring to my Lexus IS 250 (not a MINI that I've named "Lexus," which would be funny...)

OK, took delivery a couple of hours ago, and drove her home. Interesting things then happened. I went to the administrative office for my community to get the little windshield mounted transponder unit that opens the gates, and the two ladies (who hate installing these things) kind of grumbled their way outside, until they spotted the car. They both lit up, got all excited and enthused, wanted to sit inside, etc.

I then went home, called USAA (my insurance company) and told them to delete my Acura RL, and add my new car. The lady did the delete, and then asked me what I had bought, in very business-like tones. I told her. She became a distinctly non-business like excited young woman. She enthused about how wonderful MINIs are, and how much she loved them, and why, etc, etc.

My wife then announced that she didn't really feel like cooking tonight, would pizza or Chinese take out be OK. Sure I said, but I need beer if I'm going to eat pizza. So off to the grocery store I went. Picked up a six-pack, left the grocery store, got into the left-hand turn lane at the light to go into my community when a lady who happens to be the real estate agent that sold us our house a few years back pulls up into the next lane. She does a double take, powers down her window and leans out of it and shouted "I love it! I want a ride! When can I have a ride?"

The car seems to be a hit with the ladies. One 20-something, one 30-something, one who knows because it was a voice on the phone, and one 50-something. If I weren't a married guy I'd be thinking that this thing could prove to be reeeeaaal useful . . . .

Two reasons, actually. First, I'm not as young as I once was, and logged about 300 miles today driving down to, and back from, the MINI dealership. Second, as I was once told by a particularly grizzled old senior NCO who supposedly worked for me (but as any retired officer can tell you, NCOs run each and every branch of the military, the commissioned types are merely figureheads) - "beer's not drinkin' sir; whiskey, now that's drinkin'!!!"

We live in a little town between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, Exeter. We both grew up in the Poconos and I still work there.

Where is your family in NEPA?

Finally!

Well, my MA got one of the SA's to stay late today to prep my MINI so I can pick it up tomorrow. Guess I'm not going to be able to sleep much tonight with visions of MINIs dancing in my head. Any drinking will have to be done tonight as the rest of the weekend will be devoted to motoring!

Also, as I won't have my DoD sticker when entering the Installation on Monday, I'll have to get in the "search" lane but I don't mind. Even if I had my sticker the guards would still probably stop and "search" just to check out the new Clubman.

Ok, how did you get the free mats? I hate the idea that I've got to buy the mats. Even if they charge another $100..just give me the mats.

Did they offer? Did you hint? Did you push? What's the secret. I want free mats!
