Week 28 Support Group
OK, took delivery a couple of hours ago, and drove her home. Interesting things then happened. I went to the administrative office for my community to get the little windshield mounted transponder unit that opens the gates, and the two ladies (who hate installing these things) kind of grumbled their way outside, until they spotted the car. They both lit up, got all excited and enthused, wanted to sit inside, etc.
I then went home, called USAA (my insurance company) and told them to delete my Acura RL, and add my new car. The lady did the delete, and then asked me what I had bought, in very business-like tones. I told her. She became a distinctly non-business like excited young woman. She enthused about how wonderful MINIs are, and how much she loved them, and why, etc, etc.
My wife then announced that she didn't really feel like cooking tonight, would pizza or Chinese take out be OK. Sure I said, but I need beer if I'm going to eat pizza. So off to the grocery store I went. Picked up a six-pack, left the grocery store, got into the left-hand turn lane at the light to go into my community when a lady who happens to be the real estate agent that sold us our house a few years back pulls up into the next lane. She does a double take, powers down her window and leans out of it and shouted "I love it! I want a ride! When can I have a ride?"
The car seems to be a hit with the ladies. One 20-something, one 30-something, one who knows because it was a voice on the phone, and one 50-something. If I weren't a married guy I'd be thinking that this thing could prove to be reeeeaaal useful . . . .

You all are so lucky! I'm still on the boat (but at least we're having fun - racing around the deck, drinks by the pool...
) But dammit, I'm antsy to get my car! (though had dreams all last night about arguing with my MA for waaaay overcharging me for the install of the driving lights - blergh!)

At VDC --> Retail?
My Clubman was showing as at the VDC yesterday. Today, the OO defaults back to "on order". But the status says "retail". It never went to "at your MINI dealer", so I guess it's there.
I got the "satisfaction survey" from MINI today too, so I guess that it is ready. But I've got no call.
Maybe they sold it to someone else!
Cheers

Yahoo! My MA just sent me an e-mail that they would like to schedule delivery. Hopefully I'll be motoring soon!
Funny thing, when I went to login to the Owners Lounge, it won't even allow me to "Track my Mini" any more.

We picked up our MINI yesterday and have a little over 300 miles on it already!! (It only had 2.7 miles on it at delivery) We love it!!
Our delivery at Otto’s went smoothly and was handled very well. They seemed very concerned with customer service and did give us a full tank of gas (we had read in here that they weren’t filling tanks anymore). Our MA spent a lot of time going over the car with us. I think it will take sometime to get the hang of using the nav and the voice commands for the nav, radio, Sirius, phone, etc., but I guess I’ll get use to it.

The dealership said they were throwing these things in in exchange for the trouble I had been having w/ my MA. However, I heard from others that this is standard protocol for this dealership.
I guess you can always ask?

Congrats to all! I apologize for posting this up here and on the week 27 thread, but since mine is a "weekend baby," I've been fraternizing with both groups.
Picked it up last Thursday, but have been offline since then. Was in Raleigh for meetings, and had lots off oohing and ahhing from friends. Unfortunately, I got caught in a monsoon as I was leaving the dealer, so it got nasty. Cleaned it up this afternoon, and plan a detailing session Thursday.
Here are a couple of pics (with apologies for my sad but smiling visage). The rest are in my NAM gallery. Let me know what you think!

Issie is at the dealer, and I am stuck 900+ miles away for the next 10 days... Who knew the hardest part of waiting would be after she arrived at the dealer. Congratulations to all Week 28ers who are now motoring (or will be shortly). I hope to join you soon!

Tough break! Some people in similar situations have had their MA take pics and e-mail them.
Good call on having the MA send some pics... I'm sure he would be happy to do that for me. Otherwise, might have to send the wife by the dealer to take some pics for me...
I'd have her pick up the car, but she is not a manual transmission kind of girl....

(raises hand) I just got off the boat today and am maybe expecting delivery early next week (what with VDC, transport, a weekend, and all). That 3 week cruise is fun, but MAN is it LOOOONNNG!
absolutely, I am in Phoenix, AZ and trying to get a hold of my MA to see if he has a delivery date.
Called twice. No call back. They better include the floor mats to say the least...

I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure out how.
