Week 25 anyone?
You shouldn't have to have insurance on the car to drive off the lot. The dealer will need to see that you have insurance on your current vehicle(s), but that will be good enough. Just call your insurance company on the next business day and they'll add you. No big deal.
Otherwise, dealers couldn't sell cars on weekends because the insurance companies would all be closed and no one could drive off. That would squelch the impulse buy a car market for them.
As long as you have current insurance, it will cover you and any temporary car you drive, like a loaner for a day or a rental.

I think we're just trying to occupy our time in these last agonizing hours.
Well the current status on my MINI is that it's in a black hole.
Inventory Pipeline states "VPC 7/9", but nothing else, and the manager at Century is getting a little curious as to why it hasn't updated. He said he'd call the VPC and ask them about it. I sure hope it isn't bad news.

My MINI GPS Tracking (Currently in my Neon)
Has anyone received a call/email from their MA in Nashville that their MINI has left the VPC and on its way to Nashville yet?
I haven't heard anything from my MA since early Wednesday.

I have. It has apparently been released to carrier -- and could already be in transit.
In the car:
Sony VAIO VGN-UX280P Micro PC
Garmin eTrex Legend C
Palm Treo 755p w/ PDAnet
325W Power Inverter
C++ / C# program to grab position data from the GPS and transmit to a webserver
A patient girlfriend who waits the 15 minutes it takes for me to setup the connection.
Server side:
Webservice to accept the position data and store in a database
PHP/Javascript page to display a Google Map and plot the points from the database
Permanent solution will probably be a Mini-ITX based computer (www.mini-box.com) with a DC-DC automotive PC power supply, a Garmin GPS 18x, and a Cellular data card. The data card is going to be the most expensive part (60$/mo), so until I decide to take that dive, I'm just going to use my work phone as a modem.

It's a pretty nifty project, I'm still working out the kinks in the code, and how many updates I want, as well as limiting updates when stopped.
What does your OL show? I know for sure that I am (hopefully was) at the VPC, but my OL still shows En route. (I know that it lags - but it sure would be nice if the website showed timely information and updates.)
Still---no call/email back from my MA. No clue if my Mini had some problems on the way over or what.

you don't happen to geocache do you?? noticed the Garmin....
I just got a call from my MA.
My MINI is at the dealership. It arrived late last night.
Now Igor has to install the sport stripes and it has to get a final quality check and test drive.
I should be able to pick it up on Monday.

Mine's still at the VDC
My MA told me to stop worrying and that it would get here eventually... that there are thousands of cars at the VDC and they don't all get processed together. He still expects a delivery sometime next week. Blah!

I guess our new mini will become our cachemobile! we are kinda addicted to it, my user name is bone shaker.....maybe we will run into you someday. There was a 'MINI' event a few months ago in the Gatlinburg area... will have to make the next one!
So, add another Geocaching MINI owner to this thread!
To keep this somewhat on topic. My MA told me yesterday that Barrett has been released to the trucking company so I'll get to pick him up next week. Even though I'm technically a week 24, it seems I got shipped with week 25!

Since I haven't heard from my MA yet this morning, I'm assuming the car did not arrive late last night. I'm going to call him to confirm the inevitable -- that I'll have to wait until Wednesday to get it (conflicts on Monday and Tuesday so I can't go).
