Week 25 anyone?
I'm squared away. My loan check and paperwork is in the mail to me and should arrive tomorrow. I *hope* my car shows up on the truck today or tomorrow.
Do none of the dealers do prep work on the weekends? How in the world do they sell cars on the weekend then, cause it seems like they always take it back for a little brush up even if you buy one on a Saturday.

Since my car is on it's way finally, I'm checking into some financing. How is PenFed. I've seen it mentioned here but I don't want to get into something that isn't safe and secure. If anybody has used them how is the process?
My MINI should be arriving at port on the 17th so I should be motoring very soon after that.

You also might want to go to "Search" at the top of the page and either put in 'PenFed' or 'financing'.
And select "Show posts" instead of "threads"
There are lots of conversations about them and others.
I did spend the day today detailing my 1st Gen. 2004 British Green MC.
First, a wash with Dawn to get all the old wax off.
Claybar Magic --- lots of time there!
A good wash with Prima Mystique
Black Wow on all the trim (so much trim!..) (Great stuff!)
Next Prima Amigo...and buffed it out.
Then, some wheel wax because the black brake dust is such a pain
It is looking v-e-ry nice!
I still need to apply Prima Epic, but that will have to be tomorrow along with the Prima Clarity glass cleaner.
Whew---
So now, I need to get some work done for the ole' job... anything to keep from thinking....'when am I going to get my MINI?'

I'm selling the maxima on Craigslist.
I haven't placed the ad yet, though, because I want to waitn until the Clubman gets here.
I think I have picked out a name for it but I am not 100% sure yet so I guess I will keep it to myself for a little while longer...

I just called and added the new MINI to the car insurance starting sometime next week.
The wife thinks I am a little premature (no jokes!) but I wanted to get it done in case the car shows up early next week.
I can't immagine what a drag it would be to have to put off picking up the car for a day because I haven't added it to my insurance yet.

I called my insurance, and they advised me to wait until a few days after I've signed to add it. They said I have a 14 day grace period to add it and everything is covered during that time. So I wait.... and I hope that my truck sells between then and now.

Otherwise, dealers couldn't sell cars on weekends because the insurance companies would all be closed and no one could drive off. That would squelch the impulse buy a car market for them.
As long as you have current insurance, it will cover you and any temporary car you drive, like a loaner for a day or a rental.

You shouldn't have to have insurance on the car to drive off the lot. The dealer will need to see that you have insurance on your current vehicle(s), but that will be good enough. Just call your insurance company on the next business day and they'll add you. No big deal.

My solution is essentially what you've said, because State Farm's policy states that newly acquired vehicles are automatically covered for 14 days or when an insurance policy is established for the VIN, whichever comes first, and lucky me, the temporary coverage has a 500$ deductible, regardless of what your normal deductible is (it's 1000$ on the Neon).
Just heard from my MA and not good news...
I haven't shipped from the VDC yet. There is no update, just that I'm at the VDC. He said that he expects to deliver sometime next week, but that he won't know for sure until it gets on a truck.
However...
Someone else in the "2007+ forum" posted yesterday that he was on the Caribbean Highway and that the truck left Thursday morning 6am to my dealership, and that he already has a scheduled delivery date of Monday.
Great. Now visions of crushed MINI parts start to pop up in my head
