Week 23 2008 Support Group
finished the part wrapping for the night...
head light rings
tail light rings
gril trim
gas cap
door handles and scuttles still need to be done
now I need to find someone with a justacooper to trade me for their amber sidemarker lenses.

/me is confused. And that should be a piece of cake. Why not blackout the scuttle lenses (sidemarker lenses)?
I'm one of the few who really likes the look of all amber turn signals. I didn't get the clear turn signal package or anything.
I don't want to tint them amber either, I did that on my last car and they chipped and flaked and looked like crap after a year.
Anyone here in the week 23 group wanna trade, or have the amber ones lying around? I've got a WTB/WTT posted up in the marketplace, but no hits yet.
Hi all,
Just a note, we got "Mystique" our side graphic today. Will install tomorrow at work (put her on a lift so we can work at eye level, rather than bent over).
And, even though we've got this great car, we passed on the house in Fallbrook, its simply TOO far. Looking around San Diego proper, probably end up in a nice part of Chula Vista, or "San Diego" near Qualcom stadium.
Will keep you posted. Thanks again for the feedback.
We're headed out on Friday for a 26 day long car-ride. Switzerland, alps, Germany, romantic road, and of course, Nurburgring- the F1 racetrack! Wheee. Will post notes from the trip in the trip list on the main page.
Happy Motoring, and I hope we get badges soon--Please Take photos and post them of your MINI with its badge when it arrives!!!!

What a wild place. According to them, you just drive up, pay 5 Euro and take off! We need to get some of those over here!

There I am sitting at work on a conference call and *ding!* goes my Blackberry. Apparently my doorman received a package for me. Really? I'm not expecting anything, I didn't buy myself any new toys, whatever could it be?
I get home, and 'lo and behold it is a box from MINI USA!! More specifically it is labelled a "MINI Adventure Field Kit." Inside I found all these goodies:

(Hi-Res: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/74689/size/big/cat/2609)
Has anyone else recieved one of these yet? Today is exactly 75 days since I took delivery...seems like a viable time frame for MINI to send something to new owners, but who knows?

You've got a doorman? Wow.
heh, i haven't gotten anything yet.. but it's not even 60 days yet.

Seems the AB/AB up the street took a clue from me and picked up a stubby, big white letters at the base, so i'm sure it's an 4" ALTA. Looking much better now.

Not? I live much closer to the Home Depot on the Holland Tunnel approach (Route 139 I believe?), but I'm not sure why we are using Home Depots as landmarks
I live in the Pavonia / Newport area of Jersey City.
In my earlier post, I by "around here," I meant NYC and area.

When i'm in NYC, i usually stay at the East Side Marriott, they've got a doorman.. and he don't come cheap.
Actually, i dont stay there anymore, i can't expense the rooms after they upped the rates a while back.
I'm out in the country so i would get lots of looks if I had a door man!
but let's keep the MINI no matter what!!!
what day did you get your car? I picked up on 6/30- I hope I get my kit soon!

I totally didn't realize my "kit" and the kit you guys will get is different.
Mine was full of brochures, (ah, in Italian...) and at the very bottom was a book, with an elastic to wrap around and keep it closed. Its a journal to use when you're in the car.
And, we were SO busy packing, cleaning, shopping for the huge European car ride, we didn't have time, and couldn't forcast the Patience for a graphics install, so that will have to wait another 30-35 days.
We decided it was better safe the first time than sorry--so I bought 5 quarts of Pennzoil 5w30 and brought them with me to the BMW Dealer in Aversa.
First, I had to convince the dealer that I was willing to PAY for a "cambio oilo e service", because the keyfob says she's not due for her first oil change until 20,000 KM. You know what? I wanna KEEP this car forever, so Mr.Buddy Guy, just hush up, stop protesting in Italian and change my oil with the oil I brought!!!
So, he gives me the "Whatever. Crazy American." face, rolls his eyes and fills out the paperwork in his computer.
I specifically added "no lavaggio la macchina con questo macchina" DONT WASH the car with this car wash machine right here! As we were standing next to the car wash...heard too many horror stories...But, when we got the car it was clean.
The bill?
"manutenzione controllo veico UL" at 36 euros was the most expensive item, total bill was 65 euros...thats like $100. (I bought those euros at .68)
So, even though I have access to that cool wood auto shop, we decided the "pre car ride and post break in" oil change was too important to not pay for.
So, Euseys signing off for a while-- will be back on SEPT 26. So, please don't close off the list before we can get back to say goodbye. Will have to note I took a hiatus on page 163, post 4074....who knows which page we'll be on when we return!!
Photos coming I promise! Drive safe, and we'll do the same!!
