All Aboard Tagus - Departing Southampton 12 April 08
Picked mine up this afternoon. Even better than I thought. Looking for excuses to drive somewhere. As much fun as the old Spitfires and TR-6's without the shaking and fear of breaking down at any minute as the victim of a Lucas electrical system.
Chili Red, Black Roof, Black Bonnet Stripes, Nav (which is the worth every penny despite what you might have read), HD radio
.
Cheers

Jim - Grats on the car. I picked mine up late this afternoon/evening as well. I really just want to go out and drive. Drove almost 100miles today already!!! Went down a super windy/hilly road we've got out by me that follows a river. This thing is so much fun.
Mine's Laser Blue/Black roof and mirrors, and black sports stripes (up the center). The blue is such an amazing color...like it way better than the "electric blue" from 05-06 which I thought I was buying (thought the '05 on the lot was laser blue). Everyone seems to get white with the laser blue, but the black really complements the color amazingly. Will get some pictures up ASAP, was too busy driving today

You have to love British Leyland
Love my MCSm. ds/b, prem., sport(17" Crown/ all-season), cold, Xenon, anthracite, lsd, chrome line int.
In the sport pack I opted for the bonnet stripes, but when my MCS came in my MA called me asking if I wanted the race stripes - these go down the middle of the hood and tail gate instead of going down the sides of the hood(i.e. bonnet stripes). I mistakenly agreed, because I was at work when he called and at the time it seemed fine to me. When I took delivery Monday I saw this mistake but then I did remember that I agreed to these stripes
so I did accept delivery. To tell you the truth I like the racing stripes, alot!
Will post pics soon.

DF - The racing stripes are awesome! I got mine only on the hood and opted to leave the back blank. Probably going to get the JCW carbon trunk latch to spiff up the rear a little bit. Glad you're liking it...sucks when you're disappointed in something like that
I'm with you, they're not bad but not really worth having. Eventually i'll remove them, but for now they stay.
But the front stripes just look awesome.
Awfully quiet in here...guess that means you guys are enjoying your MINI's! I know I'm enjoying mine, she's awesome
. It's nice to be getting awesome gas mileage too. I'm just shy of the 300mile mark now and my estimated mileage is going to put me real close to the 500 mark. Big change from my old subaru probably running really low on compression (with 190K miles) only getting about 260 before the fill up on the same sized tank

I think we've all been motoring! I know I have. I'm leaving now for a long weekend in Orkney Springs, VA. I can't wait. The church retreat there at Shrine Mont should be fun, but even better is that everyone's been telling me how curvy and fun the road going up there is!
Have an awesome motoring weekend, all! -btrimble

Picked up my Mini from Mini of Peabody, Ma around noon. I had to start the day back up in Maine by going to my town hall to get a transit tag to allow me to bring the car back to Maine. (The Mini dealer can't issue a Maine dealer plate.) On the way back up I-95 through New Hampshire and the Maine Turnpike, the computer showed me averaging 36.5 MPH. I had the cruise control set at 71 MPH (speed limit 65) and was pretty much the slowest car on the road. (No sign of the gas prices making people slow down.) I then had to go back to my town hall to pay the excise tax and then to Motor Vehicle to register the car since transit tags are good only for a day. Photos are attached. I really like the car. I have a 36 mile commute to work tomorrow and am looking forward to it. I got the clear bra option and am glad I did. The seam is hard to see. I have been reading some of the forum threads on detailing. The subject is a bit overwhelming. Any one else here decided on how they are going to approach maintaining the finish?
Just passed 1200 miles over the weekend. Drove down to the Outer Banks of North Carolina from Maryland and was surprised how comfortable the little guy is over the long haul. My wife likes the car so well that she ordered one last week so we are once again playing the waiting game. They are telling her August so her wait will be a lot longer than mine. In talking with the dealer it looks like sales are up substantially over the last couple of months.
Cheers

Hi MikeWz! 2500! Wow! I've only got 1800. Sounds like you've been having miles of fun! Just did my first major cleaning job (mats out and washed, worked hard on exterior, etc.) on my car...looks all shiny now! So far, I've been thrilled. I am getting some various and sundry rattles, but I live on a dirt road, so it's kinda par for the course, I think. One thing that has surprised me: it is amazing how quickly the back side gets dirty!

Wow I'm jealous. I'm in the process of getting a new job now. I have to drive from account to account (sales associate for a beer D) to service the stores. That can range from 30 miles in a day, up to 100 in a day...kinda sucks

What brand cleaning products(interior/exterior) do you use?
So far I have only washed my car once last week. It seems that it has been raining ever since I picked my car up, which it rained on that day too.

I have 2100 miles on mine although I didn't pick it up until May 5. My drive to work and back is 112 miles.
I have washed and waxed the car weekly. I spent too much time reading the postings on detailing on NAM by the OCD's (obsessive compulsive detailers.) I got some Prima wax products from Detailer's Paradise and also got some Wheel Wax which helps to prevent the brake dust from sticking to the wheels.

How do you rate the Prima products?
I've read about them on Detailing 101 thread, but this is a Detailer's Paradise thread.
I washed my car last week using Black Magic car shampoo and also washed the wheels with it and no dust on them, yet. Mind you that by the end of the first week home my wheels were already dirty, but I think it was mostly due to hard braking, which I now am easier on the brakes, and the fact that it rained most of that week.
Can you post the thread for the OCDs.

This a very helpful thread in the detailing forums:

It takes a while to wade through as there are 300+ messages over the last 15 months. As you will see, there are zealots for various products, particularly Prima and Zaino. I bought some Prima Epic and Hydro, but have only used the Hydro thus far. The Epic lasts longer but can stain the vinyl trim and I want to find a day when I have enough time to tape off the trim before I use it. I may also use a claybar before I use the Epic. The Hydro is super easy to use and can be put on the trim. Many folks use it on top of the Epic and then use Hydro after each wash. I also bought some Prima Nero for the interior vinyl. It looks great, not too shiny.
I have also used some Turtle Wax Ice Liquid Wax that I bought locally. It's also very easy to use, can go on trim, and looks great, but the forum threads discussing it concluded it didn't last that long. But it would be easy to do after each wash.
I also bought some Black Wow from detailer's paradise which I have used on the black trim.

I'm going to give Prima a try eventually. Right now I've got the full set of Turtle Ice...it works pretty well. It looks really nice, but as stated doesn't really last too long. Gotta wax every 2 weeks or so, and I use the protective/shine spray in between every week. Keeps the car looking mint. It's also nice that I don't have to spend the whole day doing it because you can put it over the plastic trim without leaving any marks. Going to pick up the clay bar eventually but don't really need it just yet 'cause the cars so new still.
