My Car is Here!!!

OMG, y'all, my MA just called me! My car is here, and they'll have it ready for me to pick up at 9:30am tomorrow morning! I'm so excited I can't stand it. You know how I said I've been pretty worthless during all of this? Well, I'm beyond worthless now.

You all up north should definitely be getting your calls if I've gotten mine here in Richmond. I sure hope you get a call soon!

I can't believe that 24 hours from now I'll officially have my baby!!!!

My dealer is in Peabody, Massachusetts so the car should be there soon. But the logistics of getting it are complicated. I live 90 miles away in Maine (no Mini dealers in the state). Mini of Peabody can't give me a Maine dealer plate so I have to go to my Town Hall to get a transit tag that is good for only one day. Once I return to Maine with the car, I need to go back to Town Hall and pay the excise tax before I go to Motor Vehicle to register the car. I work out of town weekdays and this can't be done on Saturdays so I am trying to get Monday, May 5 off to do everything that day. My MA hoped to deliver the car 4/30 so they could close the deal in April, but that's not going to happen.
Have you others decided on some of the "add ons" the dealer offers? Specifically, the 6 year/100,000 mile extended maintenace plan and the 3M Invisishield "clear bra"? There are extensive threads discussing the pros and cons of these. I'm still trying to make up my mind.

Wow, that sounds incredibly complicated!

I've heard people say no to the extended warranty, and I am going to say no to it. But, I have a shop here in Richmond that I used for my BMW's work that I loved, and they now work on MINIs. If I didn't know of a shop I trust and like dealing with, I might be thinking differently on this matter.
I've heard shop around on the clearbra - maybe your dealer has the best deal on it, maybe not. And be sure you're comparing apples to apples - that each product is the same thickness, warranty, etc.
Other stuff they offer? I plan on saying no, with the possible exception of the underbody protection (depends on the pricing, etc., they offer with it).

Good luck with everything!! I'm beginning to see that I'm fortunate to have a dealer in town/in state.

The extended maintenance plan is different than an extended warranty. The former extends the standard 36 month/36,000 mile covered maintenance to 6 years/100,000. My dealer wants $1,795 for that. Apparently the dealer decides what to charge. I have seen postings where others paid $1,400 for it. The postings are divided on whether it's worth it. It does cover oil changes which some dealers charge $120 to $130 for (my dealer actually lists oil changes as $230 in it's sheet on the maintenance plan). Plus it covers brake pad and rotors which could have to be replaced twice in 100,000 miles. It's really worth it if the clutch needs to be replaced which can cost $1,700. Apparently that can happen before 100,000 miles. The economics of it all has been discussed extensively in other postings which can be found by searching.

Sorry, I said warranty but meant maintenance...either way, though, I feel much the same. I trust the guys at the shop I used before much more than the dealer, as I worked with them for 10+ years on my old BMW. Economics is a big part, and I've looked at that (and read posts), but there's also the part where you're buying not only a maintenance plan, but also you're buying into working with the folks at the dealer as your service providers, too. This is a big YMMV (your mileage may vary). Like I said before, if I did not know the guys at this shop, I'd be thinking differently.
I suggest weighing the costs and the personnel. Go meet the SAs at the dealer, and ask for recs on them. Then ask around for recs on shops in your area that work on MINIs, and go meet them, too. It might be just me, but for me the working relationship with the people providing service is worth every bit as much as the price tag. In your situation, I'd be sure I was comfortable with the Service folks at the dealer as well as the price being asked before I signed an extended maintenance contract.

I spoke to my MA earlier today...apparently I have to wait 'till tuesday night at 7 to pick it up . They're also a huge BMW/Nissan dealer and got a rather big shipment in apparently, so she said it's too busy atm to be able to sit down and really spend time going over all the final stuff with me. I appreciate that she wants to wait until she can give me full attention...but I can't wait 'till tuesday!!!

I get mine on Monday at Princeton BMW/Mini. Couldn't get it today because this is also a busy dealer.

This wait really is killing me. I don't think 3 days has ever taken so long. Feels like it's already been at least 2-3 weeks and it's only been about 24hrs

Hi all...got my MCS today! Love it love it love it! Met a friend for lunch at a Cracker Barrel on the way home from the dealer, and all of the regular spaces were full. So, the very first time I parked my brand new little MINI, I put her in one of the spaces sized and labeled for RVs and Tractor/Trailers!

Hoping your time flies and you all get yours soon!!!

For what it's worth mine arrived at Tate Mini in Annapolis at 3:30 on Friday afternoon. No prepping done on the weekend. It will be late Monday or sometime Tuesday before I can take delivery, so I am sharing the agony with you. At least it arrived at the dealer safely.

Grats! Be sure to post some pictures of it when you get the chance. I'll be going in this evening at 7 to pick mine up...Can't wait! Got my nice Palo Uber antenna here waiting to go on immediately. Contemplating bringing it to the dealer and swapping it out before I drive off the lot even

I still can't get mine until May 5 as I need a weekday off to to do all the running around i have to do to bring the car back from Massachusetts to Maine. I'm still considering adding the 3M Invisishield clear bra. Did anyone else here get that?

Hi all! Managed to get some pics between pour-downs yesterday. Yes, my car is already awfully dirty! Those are the hazards of living on a dirt road in the country, especially during monsoon season. Ugh! Got to put in an order for some Prima products to get her all shiny again. -btrimble
