Week 13 Support Group
Congrats Alto!
Our cars must have looked like twins on the ship together. Good thing they didn't mix them up.
As for seeing other Mini's, there are not many in my neck of the woods. I have probably seen 3 in the last 6 months and only one was a clubman just after the launch date. Most people around here don't want to own a car with no local dealer support. The closest dealer is about 60-70 miles away. I fell into this category until this very purchase. Time will tell how it all plays out.

Oh, I see them all over the place in Austin. There're two besides mine in the parking lot where I work: a liquid yellow MCS, and a nightfire red MCS.
I haven't seen any Clubmans (Clubmen?) being driven out on the streets, yet, though.

Thanks MJB and Fig Faun
Work actually tired me out today w/ lots and lots of fires (i.e. issues) to put out so I'm a bit weary, but I still know I won't get any sleep. I think I already know where to take my first photos, and the weather will be beautiful tomorrow. At the very least I'll upload some shots from my driveway.
Joe and Alto - all this news about actual delivery dates is freakin' exciting! It's like the holidays for everyone here, awesome
That is brilliant! I've actually thought of calling my baby Kaoru or Megumi from Rurouni Kenshin, or Cho/Shino, who was a character in Zatoichi (Mayumi Ogawa in #13 btw, she was gorgeous in that episode!) but I need something a little more sinister for a DS/B. Still searching for the right name.

Thanks. I will take photos sometime tomorrow.

Drew today is your day, and I know you will enjoy your mini. I am so excited for you. When you get a chance post a picture.
The mini website finally moved me to at the VDC YEAH!!! it won't be long one more week for me.

I can imagine how excited you are. I was excited when I got on and saw that mine moved to VDC and I also so that it has an estimated delivery date of 4/21 so it will be here in plenty of time for them to put on the accessories and get him nice and shiny for me. My husband told me next Friday we will get all the shopping out of the way then go pick up my car. I think he wants to torture me. We are from a very small town and we have to drive an 1 1/2 hours to pick my mini up, at least I will enjoy the ride home.
I am going to ask my MA if they put in a full tank of gas. I think they should.

It'll be for the best. Just imagine all those potential runaway shopping carts and door dings you'll be avoiding
I've got about an 1 hr drive to and from, should be a fun drive.
The next time I post it will be with a pic

Hour-and-a-half drive here, too. But I'm an administrator, so pretty much when I get the call that it's ready, I'm just going to shoot on down there. And you said you had no patience, MJB, leaving it on the lot all those days, knowing it's just waiting for you!
Can't wait to see yours, Drew!

I know it is going to be hard but I have waited this long what is a few more days. I am a teacher's aide and it is hard for them to get a sub for me and they are going to be Pi**ed off at me as it is like I really care though I quit already this is my last year there but I would like to finish the year up anyways.
This is so exciting though this is better than Christmas as a child growing up still believing in santa claus.
At least my house is clean I did all my spring cleaning in the two weeks that I had off.
Lol. We must be synced up a little just through association. I just finished my Spring Cleaning this week, too. Just got in the mood. I have one room to finish, because I ripped up the floor to put Pergo in the study.
What grade/subject do you aide? I was a substitute teacher in the high schools for a year, before I discovered it was nothing more than glorified babysitting. I have nothing but respect for teachers, but doing it on a substitute basis sucks.
I still might have to come down with pneumonia or the clap or something, if I were you. I'd just be able to hear the MINI braying at me over the miles, like Lovecraft's The Hound, just following me wherever I went, blaming me for not loving it enough to come and get it.

I started spring cleaning, it will be two weeks on Saturday I have done a room a day and I am just finishing up this weekend, that tells you how big my house is sometimes it overwhelms me so I just looked at one room a day not the whole house and it seemed to work. I figure I want it done before I have to go back to work and when my mini gets here it will be just the basic cleaning not any deep cleaning like I have done the past two weeks. I don't clean the basement or the garage that is my husband's job.
I aide in the kindergarten rooms they are fun to work with it will be hard for me to say goodbye to them at the end of June I have grown attached to some of them. I am also a cafeteria monitor in the elementary, I have done that for 5 years and I have had enough that is one of the reasons why I am quitting. They won't let me out of there. I also work in the pool area I am certified in CPR/AED so they have me in there to watch and make sure none of the children are having difficulty swimming.
I emailed my MA because I want to get the rubber boot mat for my mini but he hasn't responded to my email yet Fridays and Saturdays are always so busy plus everyone that is getting there vehicles. He told me he had like I think 7 people who had vehicles coming.
My wife and I will be meeting at the dealer on Tuesday afternoon. That is if the car makes it there on schedule tommorrow. She will be in New Orleans Monday and 1/2 day Tuesday and our dealer is about half way between here and N.O., so I told my boss I need to take a 1/2 day to meet her to take delivery of the car. It will work out perfectly. Nice!
I have to make a confession that I don't think I have mentioned here before. The car will technically be for my wife. I think I am more excited about it than she is at this point. She says I am crazy and I will never let her drive it, but it is replacing her old worn out Honda, so I have to respect that. She is happy that I am willing to put so much time into research about it. BUT, and it's a very big BUT, I will be allowed to take the car when she is not using it, which in the beginning may not be often. I am sure I will offer to run errands for her and run our 13 yr old daughter around just so I can take the car. And the best part is that when we are together, I always drive. I am a terrible passenger, so she never drives when I am in the car. As a driver, it will be that much more special when I do get to take it!

Anyone with a car on the Tristan get their car yet? The only my MA has is that it docked on the 12th but no more info.
I didn't get mine yet. It is just showing on the Mini Website today that I am at the VDC with an estimated arrival of Monday 4/21. I am taking Friday 4/25 off to go pick him up.
I was on the Tristan
Is all this waiting driving you crazy yet?

You and your wife sound alot like me and my husband. I will not drive while he is in the car because he makes me nervous. He is worse than a back seat driver. He just bought a Dodge Durango and he asked me if I wanted to drive it? I said not really he said I know why because you don't want me driving your mini I said exactly. He told me he will drive it, and he usually does all the driving when we go somewhere but that might have to change. He thinks I am nuts for being so excited but I am worse than a child at Christmas.

Did you get your vehicle in Baton Rouge? Yes I have been there too. I actually flew in there a couple of times been to New Orleans numerous times also. I actually liked Pat O'Briens and there Hurricane drink that was in my younger days.

MJB,
Yes, at Brian Harris in Baton Rouge. I hate that city! I think most people do. That was another reason for being hesitant on buying a car that would have to go there for service, but the long service intervals makes it ok.
When I go to New Orleans, I like to head south on HWY 90. I-10 over the basin and through Baton Rouge are famous for traffic jams, and HWy 90 is 4 lanes all the way now, so it makes it nice.

Thanks for the info and yes - very painful to wait. Where did you see an estimated arrival date on the Mini website? Mine is VDC also but I did not see a date.
Also if you go into order details that also shows an estimated arrival date.
Great thanks. It shows a estimated delivery data of April 20 which is a Sunday and they are closed on Sunday... AARGHH!!
Lol. It takes a couple of days even after they receive it, Thomas. They check everything out and/or make last minute installs at the dealership. Then they detail it and prep it for you. So, even if they were open Sunday, you likely wouldn't be able to pick it up that day.
okay we both got off at New York/New Jersey. If you don't mind me asking where is yours going to?
I am from upstate New York so mine is going to Towne Mini.
