How it's made

Was recently checking channels the other night and came across an episode of Ultimate Factories on the National Geographic Channel (IN HD!).

The program I watched was "BMW". It was an interesting look into the factory that produces the Z4.

I'm pretty certain (given how many times I've watched the process video on the mini site for how their factory works), that the process is pretty standard in any BMW factory, with of course some differences. Some real interesting facts for me were around how the car receives it's paint (adds 20 pounds to the car!!!).

Anyway, for me it was a good generalized look at how a BMW factory produces a car. If you're interested you might try and have your (VCR, PC, TIVO, DVR equivalent) machine record it

The reason so many planes have very little paint on them is because of weight.

Dry paint is still heavy

I saw that one. How many times do they have to say that the engine is the heart of the car? Sheeesh. It's a great engine already. Get over it!

Cool show though!

Yeah the narrator is a little annoying and there is a lot of the same video repeated. I would love to see a show on the MINI!
