2008 Models in Week 36 ?
Not going to post his name and cause him to be flooded with questions.
But it seems his build sheet from the dealer states 2008 and also the OL, so I'm confused.

I'm the guy who's getting the '08. Thanks, Tharkun for your discretion.
So I ordered Fish on 8/15 (see sig) and was given a week 36 production slot. To be honest, I sent letters (see attachments) to 4 dealers, 1 local (90 miles away north of Detroit, lol) and 3 in south FL. Not only did Lauderdale MINI offer me a great price (less than MSRP) on a custom build, but they gave me '07 pricing. The base car is the same, but most options/pkgs have increased. Example '07 Cold weather = $300, '08 = $500. I have been able to confirm this here: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/14/2...ricing-leaked/
I'm going to assume that the '08 ragtop production has begun as of 9/1/07. Since the cabrio is still the old R52 style, the production line shouldn't need to be retooled. That's probably why the coupes aren't available yet. They need to finish building the 2007 coupes, retool, then they can begin the '08 (R56) coupes.
Fish started production on Sept. 3rd and completed production Sept 6th.
Since there are no '08 publications out yet by MINI & the MINIUSA website is still in 2007 mode, this experience should be a bit like easter egg hunting. When I take delivery (1 week, I hope), I'll let you all know if there are any suprises.
BTW, the 10th digit (which someone informed me is the last digit of the car's model year) is indeed an 8.
Cheers
Is it at all possible that I have the 1st North American 2008 Mini cabrio??? How cool would that be, lol!

So you are getting a cabrio. That makes sense then.
BTW, there won't be any "retooling" required at the plant for the 08 hardtops since: 1) There isn't anything really changing at all from the current 07 builds. 2) The rest of the world already started receiving what we call an 08 model back in August/September. It's only the U.S. that is being made to wait for the new model year to begin production AFAIK (most likey due to the introduction of the Clubman). Thus, any retooling that might have been required would have already of been done.
