Help tracking K-Line Ship - Western Highway
Finally found my car. It's onboard a K-Line ship called Western Highway! It's scheduled to arrive in Charleston, SC on 10/04/07.
Anyone that missed the Integrity could be on this ship as well. Check with you MA.
Can someone provide some information on tracking this ship? Call sign is 3EJK5. It does not show up on SailWX.
Thanks!

Since sailwx is not showing any previous history, chances are the Western Highway does not use the AIS system so you won't be able to track her voyage well at sea with the software available online for free.
She is schedueld to arrive at Baltimore on 10/2 and you will be able to locate her on the AISfree site about 24-36 hours before port arrivial.

Welcome aboard.
Looks like we're the only 2 NAM'ers onboard. 1 week until she docks in Charleston. I'm starting to get very excited now! I've already cleaned the garage, ordered an Alta shorty antenna, and the Detailers Paradise Super Bundle.
You should be able to see her on the AISfree maps once she is near the coast, start checking for her late afternoon on 10/1 in the Baltimore area of the maps.

Have you contacted your MA to see if he can verify which ship your Mini is actually on ?

Everything is almost ready.
I'm getting excited too.
I didn't order any aftermarket mods, although I do plan on stopping on the way home from the dealer to get the rear windows and sunroof tinted.
MINI has a VDC in, or near, Charleston. Once you're sure of the name of your ship, you can check the Port of Charleston web site and find out exactly when it docks and starts to unload. My MA said they like to get the cars from Charleston to Chicago in about 2-3 days, usually by truck.
Hope this helps. Happy Motoring.
Ship Tracking
SailWX uses weather reports transmitted by the ship to plot their loacation, so no report, no location. The AIS transmissions from the ship only have a range of about 25 miles so are only affective when the ship is near port.
You can set up an account with www.shinemicro.com and search for your ship my name or MMSI number (Western Highway's is 372548000). Unfortunately the last AIS signal was from September 8th. But keep checking.

If you're on the K-line ship, you'll be debarking in Charleston (sorry Tharkun) I'm in the Chicago area and my new MINI was on a K-line ship and it docked in Charleston on 9/13 and I picked it up on 9/18 (pretty quick since I don't think the VDC's are open on the weekends!) My "sticker" clearly shows Charleston as the port of entry.

The VDC in South Carolina is actully near Spartanburg, about 30 minutes east of Greenville.
The Western Highway appears to be docked in Baltimore. Baltimore is about the same distance as Charleston from the MINI dealership in Winston-Salem, NC. Does anyone know if it is more or less likely that my mini would be unloaded in Baltimore than in Charleston?
Interesting... how did you find this out? I don't see it on AIS Free right now, and the port of Charleston is not showing it docked right now or departed within the past 10 days. Still shows expected arrival of 10/4.
Thanks for the link. Still can't figure out where she is right now since AIS Live last updated the posistion just outside of Baltimore on 9/30.
The waiting is really starting to get to me now... it's so close yet so far away. I need to call my MA and see if he even knows the car is on a boat!

This is the latest ShineMicro ping.

Does the "Received:" mean the signal came from the ship at 4:38?

Who wants to guess the arrival time in Charleston? There are no ships currently docked in the Union Pier Terminal so the Western Highway should be able to dock early.
My guess based on it's current position... Docks at 8:30 am ET on 10/3.

On this map AIS she is still close to Baltimore.
Shinemicro is showing her as still anchored. Usually Shinemicro is more lagged than AISfree so
I would guess she is only about an hour or so south of the Baltimore dock at this time.
So from past K-Line ships she will be on schedule for Charleston on the 4th.
UPDATE: Oka so Shinemico seems to be more accurate right now, shows her off the
cost of Fleeton Virginia.

My status in OL shows en route - no arrival date though. Now I'm wondering whether it will get off in Baltimore or Charleston. I'm located near Chicago.
