SNOW????? I shouldn't be surprised since I've been snowed on Sept 1st in Denver, but still. I wouldn't want to learn to drive my MINI in the snow.

Msteadman - this is very good news. Are you the first to schedule pickup? We're all green with envy. (Actually I'm jealous that your MA is so communicative) Don't forget to post about picking it up and taking your first drive, etc.
BTW, has anybody's MA asked them how they want their car's computer programmed or is that what they do at delivery?

Thanks! I seriously couldn't be more excited. My ride for Saturday actually bailed on me and asked if I could just pick it up Sunday (assuming Otto's is even open) but I'm just gonna take a cab. Call me impatient but there is NO WAY my MINI is gonna sit at the dealer for even a second more then it needs to... But wow I'm not sure, AM I the first one to schedule pickup!?! My MA has definitely gone above and beyond, I'm quite happy with him. Today's email just came right out the blue without any questions from me at all so it really does show me that he hasn't simply forgotten that I'm sitting here waiting. Rest assured I'll definitely post every single detail about delivery and the hour drive home (which should be QUITE interesting as I won't know where I'm going). Finally, I was actually wondering the same thing regarding the car's programming as just in reading the manual (yes I've gone through the entire thing 3 times already) there are definitely some settings I'll want changed from their defaults. If my MA doesn't bring it up to me either beforehand or on delivery day, I'll be sure to ask about it before driving off the lot.

That is pure evil.

I'm in a similar situation. Trading in the only car and taking the MINI straight to the window tinting & clear bra guy. Hopefully he can do it all pronto or I'll be taking a cab. The things we do for our MINI's!!! (Feeling this may only be the tip 'o' the iceberg)

Isn't it!?! Onlyyy the fact that it's a basketball commitment (she plays on the team here at our college) is keeping me from disowning her all together. I'm actually planning on taking mine straight to a window tinting place near my dealer as well. So lame that in PA, dealer's are forbidden BY LAW to tint the windows themselves... I don't get it But it's true, the things we really do for our MINI's (such as a $90 taxi ride so that I don't have to wait an additional two days) - and this is just the beginning! When are you scheduled to pick yours up?

That is odd. Here though, the dealer wants so much more than market price to tint the windows, so that pretty much drives (ha ha) you to a tint guy. How dark can you tint your windows in PA? I still haven't decided that issue. We can go 35% here, but I'm afraid of moving to a state that is more restrictive and risking a ticket.

I'm guessing my car will be here around 24th Sept, so no scheduled pickup yet. My MINI has a 900 mile roadtrip from port to the dealer. You are lucky to be near the east coast.

It is definitely odd, when my MA told me I didn't even believe him at first. Thankfully he was able to recommend a place like a block down from the dealer though. I'm actually not sure how dark we can go here, I'll need to get that info sometime before the weekend... After reading of MINI owners on here getting their dealer to throw in FREE tint, I'm really surprised to hear that your dealer wants so much for it. But goodness, that really is QUITE the trip! Last update from my MA (woke up to an email from him) says my MINI should be released from the VDC early morning tomorrow and will therefore make it to him tomorrow afternoon. So the Saturday pickup is confirmed - I guess it's not too good to be true after all.

[SIZE=2]Good for you, Msteadman! I haven't heard anything from my MA and being in Massachusetts, I don't think I should be that far off either if you are getting yours this Sunday. But I am having the driving lights installed by the dealer so that might postpone the delivery to later next week..:impatient

Thanks! Yea, you should definitely be getting your call soon as well so just hang in there. That's actually one of the main reasons that the only thing I'm having my dealer install is valve stem caps and a license plate frame... I wouldn't want ANYTHING to delay it! At first I was gonna get the illuminated door sills as well (but cheapened out in the end) in which case there is no way delivery would be this weekend.

WOOT, so turns out I won't be taking a cab after all to pick up my MINI (although it'd have TOTALLY been worth it ). Got another friend who's gonna drive me over on Saturday.

Congrats! I'm sure the last few days seem longer and longer...

Good move. My MINI is a secret surprise, soooo hello yellow cab. Why am I doing this? It's stupid, it's not like nobody's going to notice a totally different and brand spankin' new car. I think I'll tell everyone my car shrank in the wash.

Hahahaha, that was actually one of the main reasons I wasn't fretting about having to take a cab. Just being able to surprise everyone with my brand new MINI would be so cool! However I'm only bringing one friend with me so the surprise aspect will definitely still be there for many others. Just out of curiosity, how far are you from your MINI dealership???

On a side note, the OL finally updated my MINI to being at the VDC! Rather late as it arrived there on Monday and is leaving tomorrow but whatever... I actually got so used to calling into Automated Ask MINI multiple times a day that I still find myself checking it for updates although it's rendered useless after the MINI is loaded onto a boat. Without any kind of updates (since there are really none to give) it's definitely these last days which are the hardest.

Msteadman, really happy for you, man!! It goes without saying that you owe us some pics soon (we'll give you some time to get to know your MINI first ).

My MA seems a bit vague on an exact date for mine, but it will probably be somewhere around the last week of the month. Can't wait. Seems like we've been on here waiting forever. :impatient

Thanks! Rest assured pics will be up by Sunday IF NOT Saturday night. But I swear, even with the unusually short wait for mine it really does seem like it has been SO much longer. MINI's clearly drive one to obsession and EXTREME lacks of patience.

Seriously, it's close. I'd say 5 miles max. I could bicycle easily or walk even. I have nothing to complain about. I once spent what seemed like hours on light rail and then walking through a rainstorm in Portland to pick up a Neon. Life is better now.

Ohhh well in that case I'd definitely just take a cab; you're quite lucky to be that close. On another note although I know it sux for people who are ordering now, today's price increase makes me feel even BETTER about the fact that I'm picking up my MINI this Saturday. Exact configuration is now $700 more expensive... NOT cool - and to think I was gonna wait to place my order.

WOOT, according to both my MA and the Owner's Lounge my MINI has arrived at the dealer! Even so the OL is proving it's unreliability by quoted an estimated delivery date of 9/12 (yes that's this PAST Wednesday) but given that I'm only ONE day away now the excitement is seriouslyyyy taking over.

JUST PICKED IT UP! And I must say I'm absolutely in loveeeeee. Hadn't even test drove or for that matter RIDDEN in a MINI before but it's amazing. You know that you have an awesome car when it literally begs you to drive it. I've only had it for a few hours now yet I find myself going on random drives just for the heck of it... Now just gotta get past that break-in period and the fun can REALLY begin For those of you wondering about late model '07 changes, it does have the new 'bong' sound, sill plates, cruise control in the tach display, and sport button display but no auto-up windows or USB port. I'll be posting pics in a separate thread SOON.

Congrats! Finally, huh?

Mine is still cruising around the Atlantic. Scheduled to hit port Monday so hopefully won't be too long.

Thank you! FINALLY is right, amazing to think it's only been EXACTLY one month since I ordered though... Impressive timing! It arrived at the port just this past Monday evening and I picked it up this morning so four full days. My MINI has no VDC or dealer installed accessories though, so I'm sure that helped it make good timing. Really seems I just got extremely lucky through the whole process. It went into production just one day after placing my order and it was able to get loaded onto a vessel the very day it arrived at the port, just hours before said vessel departed.

This cracks me up, we should have a poll of how many people bought a MINI w/o a test drive. I test drove one a week after I put the order in.

Congrats Msteadman. Have fun, be safe, motor on.

Thanks, T-POD! Yea, it's pretty crazy. I couldn't imagine buying any other car without a test drive first, but with the MINI I honestly didn't even feel a need to.
