All Aboard the TAGUS! (Week 31) Leaving Southhampton 8/9/07
It's state testing time, when no child shall be left behind!
The quietest my classroom ever is. . . we're a pretty active bunch usually!
Scoop got a present from my hubby last night. He bid on, and won, a glove box organizer on eBay. I emailed the person and asked if they were on NAM or in our local driving club, and he is! Fun to make a new contact
I love eBay. Bought a vintage Oleg Cassini trenchcoat last week for 33 cents.
Did I mention I love eBay???

90+ degrees, the sun's out, a little breeze..... life is GOOD. Life was made for us and our MINIs. What fun it is to drive.
Painting weekend in the AM. The afternoon will be for pleasure.
Have a wonder weekend everyone!!!!!!!1

Sounds like a great weekend, all! Hubby won't let me drive Scoop until he does another oil change. (He's watching out for her and tending the princess as she deserves!!) He promised by Mon or Tues.
Wed we're all ditching school (hubby is a teacher too!) and going to the Day at Pompeii exhibit in San Diego before it leaves in June. Scoop will be ready!
The exhibit is only in 4 US cities. Since I haven't been to the real Pompeii yet, I am so excited!

Great trip
- forgot my camera.
The weather was lovely though. I haven't been to the beach in a while. So...Kermie and I are going to do it again next weekend as well - this time to go see my parents. Unfortunately, the weather is not forecasted to be nearly as nice. Gotta love all of the windy roads though. Woo Hoo!!

So glad you had a great weekend!Yesterday I went with a friend to Glen Ivy Hot Springs. Wow! What a nice way to relax after a leaky fridge hose at 1am Sat, a garage sale from 6-9:30 and Boy Scout adventure fron 10-5. Sat. was CRAZY!!!!
So yesterday, we plastered ourselves with red clay, baked for a bit, took mineral baths, rested by a waterfall and finally got an incredible massage. What a day!
It was in the high '90s, and the surroundings were beautiful! It's so close . . . about 45 minutes away, but I haven't been there for over 20 years. It's pretty swank! This week, Scoop gets her oil change! YAY!
Sounds like a great weekend for those that posted. How about the rest of you?
Fantastic weather, great progress and some nice open sunroof/widow driving these past two days. The downstairs is nearly complete. Just a few touch ups and details (that are the easiest to put off now) to complete. We got to not only reclaim our living room, but the dining room where most of the furniture stuff was stored, the family room where the dining room table moved to and the our bedroom where the decorations/clutter (don't tell my wife I called it that) was boxed up. Woo Hoo!
On to the actual new room now!
Frodo will get his second oil change this week. I think I have settled on 7500 mile increments.
MINIs are up for anything, and so social too. I am always being stopped and talked to by others that have made friends with Frodo. People love him.
Have great weeks friends. Only 6 more weeks of my 32 year career in education. These past 2 were a BAD mistake. I was not the right fit for this group. I can't wait to begin my new career!

Was just browsing some of the new posts before calling it a day, and found this one. I ordered the brochure. Thought since you are doing lots of fun drives, this might be a great resource!
Free scenic byways book......
I found this over on the Miata.net site.
If you would like a free book of great roads for our cars go to www.byways.org. The book is by National Geographic and is offered free by the "National Scenic Byways Program. If you were to buy it in a store it will cost $25.00. It lists 275 of the best drives in the U.S. Now these are scenic roads, not necessarily the twisties we like. The emphasis is on the views and scenery, but each of these 275 roads is a great drive. It's a free small book and it fits perfictly in an MINI door pocket. Did I mention FREE! Go to the site and click on the "Get Your American Byways Brochure" and about 8 weeks later you will get it.

Me too! Now, where do we make the suggestion of producing a pamphlet entitled "Twisty Byways of America" ?
25 degree shift (down) in the temp today.
Rain for two days now, but then the sun comes back!

I change my own oil. I would suggest it. For the price of a Rassmusen oil change you can buy the stuff to do it yourself and you learn quite a bit about the car in the process. I think it was straight forward and there are a few posts on how to do it. As I remember, you need to buy synthetic oil and filter (I got mine from the dealer at close to the cost of running around.), a deep socket (or add a socket set if you don't have one), a torx socket, oil drip pan and ramps (I made mine from 2x6 (stacked two high), latex gloves and paper towels. The actual work part takes about 15 minutes, but if you want to drain fairly completely you will need to take a 30 min break in the middle.
Otherwise, Rassmusen is expensive, but they know how to do it.... if you go someplace else make sure they have done it before and have the correct filter and oil with the correct specfications. You don't want MINI to have and excuse to deny you if something goes wrong under warranty.
Rain is now predicted over the weekend.
<- these are my family's faces.
Just wanted to wish everyone a joyous Memorial Day Weekend. The weather is going to be for @#&% this weekend, but it will be wonderful to have three days off with the family.
I'm on target for completion of the new room. Pics will be revealed when we are done. I'm guessing three weeks.
Frodo was looking good until yesterday when he did some puddle jumping. It will be at least a week (if you can ever believe the 7 day forcast) before he even has a chance of cleaning up. He loves the rain.
Happy weekend and beyond MINI Mates.

Ahhh, woman of accomplishment checking in. What, you may ask, makes me accomplished? Well, I just completed my first oil change ever and changed Scoop's oil, with some tutoring from wonderful hubby (19 years of mostly blissful wedded stuff as of this week!
). It wasn't too bad! This was her second change, and the oil was black. There were no metal bits this time though. This time hubby got all the tools out for me, and handed me what I needed. Next time, I'll do it start to finish!
We even documented the event with pictures. Will post within a few weeks!
Now if I can teach my hubby how to make my brown-sugar salmon!

WOW!! Scoopmama that is quite something!! CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm mechanically inclined, but not willing to risk hurting Molly and changing her oil. Hubby is not a wrench bender either!!
Thursday Molly will be getting her oil changed at Rasmussen and have the Chrome Rings installed around the Door Speakers...the Dealer has mis-ordered the parts 3 times now.

Hi all!
I hope you won’t turn me in for being a bad parent but BlueBelle will be getting her oil change as well – but that’s because she has over 17k on her
and the service light finally came on. We got the filter but never got around to getting it done before. Good thing she had her month in the spa.
I think the ‘graduate-a-senior’ thing is almost as crazy as the 15th was!
My son is the first baseman for the school baseball team and they were in the state playoffs. They went further than any team from our school has since 1975 so it was a big deal for our little town!
The first game was played on the Friday afternoon of our 105 degree weather the week before last.
Then last week the second round game on Tuesday was in Lakeview which gave us a 600mile+ trip. We got sun, rain, hail, and snow with that game. Hubby had to take a lady back over there the next day because she lost her keys. I was nice and let him take BlueBelle again (not to mention the gas savings over his truck)
On Friday we went to Elgin which is just about as far to the other end of the state as you can get (and over 1000 miles round trip)
All in all we had a great time
(with the exception of the last loss
). We think that BlueBelle has gotten to Sybil (the Garmin’s) brain though as all routes seemed to be laid out with maximum twisties in mind
(no complaints here)
Now we’re down to just concentrating on the graduation and related parties, etc. We do a surprise all-night to next day party and senior trip for the kids as well as our own family thing.
I’m sure the educators (including the soon to be ex-educator) in our group are counting the days as well!
Happy motoring all!!

Kermit still has not had an oil change and is happily purring along after almost 12K. He has had his tires rotated and wiper blades changed though.
I am just not mechanically inclined, so we will wait for 15K at Rasmussen.
