R56 Production Week 34 Support group
the gift that keeps on giving
Does anyone have the skinny yet on the next batch of MINIs heading to the East Coast? I'm banking on the Patriot heading out on Saturday. No more calls to the ASKMINI hotline for me -- they must have caller ID cuz they greeted me by name the last time time I called! Who knew? :(
I'm hoping to be on the Patriot as well. Don't want to wait for the Aida on Tuesday the 4th. I've been waiting at port for a week now and it's killing me not knowing when my MINI will be on it's way!:impatient
HORRORS! Might have to get a life this weekend and perhaps not obsess about shipping schedules, atlantic storms, the rapture -- whatever!(formerly of chicago here. you will have to let me know how much fun it is to drive a MINI on the LSD!)
Hey lawyertom, I'm in Chicago, too (live and work in the city). Where did you order your MINI? I got mine through Patrick, and so far pretty happy. My MCS is on the Freedom crossing the Atlantic as we speak.
Hey monkeyboy adn laywertom, I too am from the Chicago Area. Skokie to be exact, ordered at Knauz after issues with Patrick. Just out of curiousity, when did you place your order Monkeyboy?
Mine was ordered 8/10 and completed on the 24th. I have no idea what week I was scheduled for (my MA said it would be built in mid Sept. so I was thrilled when suddenly it was ready) I can't even figure out how you guys get that information or how you found out what boat yours scheduled on. Neither my MA or the 866 number says they know that or can help with it. I've read the 'tracking your mini post' and I've been checking the WW cargo tracking 3 times a day and find nothing. I am on the west coast and wonder if it will even be shipped with WW.
Any tips? Am I just being impatient and it's too early to know?

I live in Illinois as well....south of Chicago, and I ordered mine through Mini of St. Louis because of the Mini Select plan. Illinois doesn't have that. I am also on the Freedom and am unpatiently
waiting for my Mini to come in. I've been quite happy working with them.

Mine was finished on 8/24 too, and AFAIK we are week 34 (still not sure how that matters, except for identifying this support group). Look for very helpful post by cougar in this thread regarding out to find out which WW ships your Mini might be on. I'm also on west coast, so we're interested in boats leaving Southampton, headed for Port Hueneme. From what I can tell, we're likely to be on the Topeka, leaving 9/3, arriving 9/24. Not sure when our VINs will show up on the WW site.

Vins can show up on the WW sight as early as 24-48 hours before ships arrivial. So ya just need to keep loking and find some way of killing time.
Hey Tharkun,
Since you seem to be the resident expert at tracking west coast bound WW ships, do you have any idea what the call sign is for the Medea and where it currently is in the Atlantic? I'm pretty sure that it left Southampton on the 27th.
Thanks oh mighty ship tracker one.

Call sign for Medea is 9VHL, but it will be rather useless since it shows no tracking history for her on sailwx.info site. So it appears the Captain does not have/use the AIS weather reporting system. You can calculate her location by using an average spped of 16-17 knots, or an average of 350 -400 miles per day.
Also you are correct, booking slots for WW ships are assigned to VINS months in advance, and one you have your VIN you can see when it was actually booked. Also the production week numbers are not of any real importance, just a way of knowing where in line your Mini is at.
When you check the WW sight for a ships schedule and see it has chaged to red, that shows the ship has departed that port, and is treking to the next port on the schedule. It will not update till the ship actually has left the port.
Anyone with tracking questions can PM me and I'll try and reply quickly.
Monkeyboy and Mataku: I ordered on 8/16 from Patrick, and it was completed on the 23rd or 24th, and so far, pretty happy as well.
I may have to head up to Patrick Mini before Septemberfest for yet another test drive Sat! Don't want to go after having a few cold ones at Septemberfest of course!

lawyertom and mataku, I ordered late July from Patrick, got a production number around the first week of August, and build was completed around 8/25. So far timing on everything has been pretty much what I expected. Now I'm just waiting to see whether Patrick will get me a good deal on the JCW aero kit installed at the VDC in Charleston!
Hi Tharkun,
Thanks, you've been very helpful. But I'm confused by the following statements. If we have a VIN, are you saying there's some way to see its booking immediately?

If you are booked on a WW ship and your VIN # and get pass the " no tracking info available"page, then it will display the booking and voyage number. Then you can enter the booking number under the "cargo tracking" then "auto cargo", once you are at that page it will show the actual date your Mini was booked for that voyage number.
Usually the WW ships will start showing VIN #'s that are booked 24 -48 hours prior to ships arrivail at SouthHampton. Hope this helps make it clearer, if not just ask.
I finally heard back from my MA. He said he had no idea what boat it would be yet but to call him next week and he probably would be able to tell me more. He also said once the boat departs it would be 6 weeks before I see my mini. His estimate is that it's a total of 7-8 more weeks out ...although I think he might overestimate just to be safe.
I really have to find a distraction...

psrock, not trying to get your hopes up but that 6 weeks once the boat departs estimate seems high... maybe they're trying to be conservative...
as an example, i ordered mine on 8/6, born on 8/13, and shipped sometime after that (not on a WW ship so I cant confirm ship/date) and I just got a call from my MA telling me that the car just left the VDC and is on its way to Houston... estimated deliver is next week. Anyway, the trip across the atlantic is only 7-10 days if your on the east cost so hopefully this makes the wait a bit shorter
.
good luck!

Check the Topeka's list.

Either search the Auto Cargo link with your VIN or
search the Booking Number with GBSOU550804 (hit printable version once it loads and text search for your vin.
The Topeka is scheduled to arrive on the west coast, Port Heuneme, CA on September 24th.
