Cougar, I see you ordered the convenience package - could you let us know if you get the USB port? Some of us are holding onto a shred of hope this made it into week 34. Cabbagehead, could you do the same if you got the pkg or the bluetooth prep? Much appreciated, and congrats!

yeah no problem, hopefully I will be able to let you know tomorrow!!!! I hadn't heard they were going to put one in there...is it for an IPOD?
Folks in europe have been getting them. Some in the U.S. have started getting only documentation for it (weeks 32 & 33), and a cutout where the port goes. It's comes with bluetooth for some reason. It can read and allow control of music on a USB storage device. For control of an ipod via USB there is a special cable you can buy (much cheaper than buying the iPod adapter). There's a massive thread on this in the Nav forum.

Ah, so u did not get the 'inconvenince' pkg
. No confirmation yet if USB was included in week 34, but you definitely would not get it unless you got the bluetooth phone prep (included in the pkg).

and as far as the usb it is not in my car....my ma said they prob wont do that to any of the 07's unless u pay for it
now now fellow mini owners, i paid for t he convenience pkg and am happy with it and actually as long as u put the mini "remote key" in the slot next to the start button twice a year it recharges the battery so you dont have to replace it unless it goes bad!!! so ha!!

If you do a search on the web for the battery model number you will lean it is not a rechargeable battery.

I also have the CA system and my MA informed "to be sure and insert the key a few times a year".

The charging can be done via electromagnetic induction and it does not require metal contacts. Think of a modern electric toothbrush or electric razor and you will get the idea. But I was also under the impression that the CA fob uses regular batteries and not rechargables.
The batts in my two FOBS are Panasonic CR2032 3v, which are a Lithium battery and are not rechargeable, actually attempting to charge a Lithium battey "may" result in it blowing apart. Now if they were Lithium-ion batts then they would be rechargeable.
Yeah I took delivery yest, and my MA said there is no USB, I actually haven't looked myself and have just taken his word, but he said he doubts they will add it to any of the US Mini's this year.
Congrats! That's probably true - I've pretty much given on getting USB in our week 34s. But next time you're in your Mini, take a look at the bottom of the center console. I believe that's where the AUX port is, and the USB would be right next to it.
I see a problem if they were to start showing up in the Minis shipping to the USA, it becomes a problem of "well I only ordered a few weeks before this guy" and would be opening up the possability of needing to offer it to all 07 owners. Also for those of us that have invested in the Ipod adapter (first available in June) to have Mini start installing a USB on late model 07 could be another issue.
I think wishing for the USB is just that.

BMW is famous for doing midcycle changes and they don't give a dam who cares or doesn't. They see is it as continual refinement (CQI) as opposed to many manufacturers who never make any product inprovement.
USB this, USB that. I don't know what the fuss is. You guys make it sound like the car is undriveble without USB. Good to see new features are added to the car when they become available. Wish all manufactures did that.
Not sure how you got that impression. I'd like to spend $60 (USB portable drive) instead of $850 ($350 ipod + $500 ipod adapter). Feel free to talk about something else.
Probably from the various threads here about it. I don't have an ipod or want one. Just as easy to burn some mp3 cds or dvd.
