I bought a 2 gig SD card, not from Garmin for my 76CSx. I bought City Nav NT also and loaded it on my computer. It makes it easier to plan routes in Mapsource than with the handheld. If you contact Garmin, they may send you a DVD version of City Nav, since you own it on the SD card. They did that with the Nuvi 660 I have. That came with the maps preloaded but no DVD. They sent the DVD version for free so I could plan routes in Mapsource. Garmin has great customer service.

The Nav system in the Mini was the last option I picked. I demo'd it at the dealer and thought it was overpriced for what you get. However after about 3 weeks I changed my mind. I still plan to use the 76CSx in the Mini since the Mini Nav doesn't have a tracklog. With it logging to the SD card, you get an unlimited tracklog.

Automated ASK MINI recording updated today to stating that our car is now "in the paint shop" with a production date of 8/21. Looks like it's right on schedule to be completed sometime today. I can smell the paint fumes. Awesome!

Now I'm hoping to make the WW ship "Medea" that is scheduled to leave Southampton on 8/27.

Hmm. I wonder what comes first paint shop or body shop???

i.e. does body shop refer to the construction of the main body (which would obviously come before the paint), or does it refer to putting the body together after it has already been painted?

well, being that your prod date is before mine, im assuming its paint before body.

btw where did you order your MINI from? i got mine from southbay. maybe we'll be on the same boat, picking up the same day! hah! how cool would that be?!

@tomah,

Makes sense. I should have checked to see if your production date was posted in this thread. D'oh!

I purchased my MINI from Crevier. They took awesome care of us when our first MINI turned out to be a lemon. Thus, we've bought all our MINI's from them ever since. We heard horror stories from folks who also got a lemon and their dealership wouldn't step up and help them out at all (Irvine MINI comes to mind on that one). Also, Christian Banks (our MA) is a GREAT guy and we really like dealing with him.

As for the ship, I'm sure that we will indeed be on the same one. The ships generally hold hundreds of MINI's and so I'm sure that we'll all be lumped together (at least the west coast MINI's with us anyway). Can't wait to see the pics of everyone's cars once they start showing up at the dealerships. The problem with these production threads is that the east coast folks always get their cars weeks before us west coast folks do and so it makes it even harder on us (with Hawaii and Alaska being really bad).

@Billobongz,

Yes, it's just too early at this point. You'll have to wait until it gets closer to the shipping date before your VIN will appear on that site (assuming you make it onto one of their ships that is). Also, there is always the possibility that you will get on a ship that can't be tracked online (i.e. a ship not owned by WW). In that case, your MA would have more info for you (as far as arrival date, ship name, etc. goes).

I just called ASKMINI, and the computer dude said I'm in production w/ est. completion date of 8/24. Am I week 34? I tried to talk to a real person, but it's after business hours (where are they located?). I'm amazed - I ordered on 8/15.

Not real exotic eh? I have a neighbor that works there. They just opened a BMW office here within the last year and ASK Mini works out of there.

Even with them so close I still can't get my Mini on a freakin' boat!

Me too in PA too!

I hope we get on the next boat together. I'll be picking Alec up at Otto's.
Maybe we should set up an air freight charter?
