Konig Feathers, opinions?

Can anybody comment on the durability/quality of these wheels and/or konigs in general?

http://www.altaminiperformance.com/p...R-WHEEL-16-17-

does anyone have these, pictures would be greatly appreciated. All colors please.

also, comments on improved handling/acceleration/whatever you feel is different after swapping them for the "boat anchor" oem wheels would be appreciated as well.

I like the looks of the black ones -- the better to obscure the brake dust!

I'm interested in opinions on durabilty -- how do they hold up to crummy roads and (mild) potholes?

And will they accept the TPMS used in the 07-08 cars?

I just bought a set of 16 inch Feathers last week so I really can't comment on how well they hold up but, I will say that when inspecting the wheels I was going to buy, the finish was flawless. I bought mine from Good-win Racing. (www.good-win-racing.com).

aawwww yea! nice! Thank you much for the pics man!

anyone else had them for a while and know about durability. i would assume they are pretty good, konig is a relatively big name. but ive heard horror stories about light wheels, so im paranoid.

btw, thanks again for the pics.

I got mine right before driving out to the dragon from denver and they did great. I like em. Well priced for a light weight wheel, if you do taco one your not out 200+ dollars.

Acceleration was very very noticeable , especially at low end. I felt this was as good of a mod if not better then my pully reduction.

sweet. thanks a lot. i really didnt expect to notice a whole lot in acceleration, but, there it is. another bonus. im pretty much sold, but i need to save for a while. just bought new drums.

anyway, more pics are still encouraged. especially the gold ones. i normally wouldnt really like them, but for some reason im insterested, at least to see what they look like. probably end up with silver, but we will see.

Thanks Kenchan, I'm really please with the way the feathers look on the car. I was told that these wheels gave the appearance of being larger because of the spoke design going all the way to the edge of the rim, I think there right ! I love the look of my 18's but the ride and performance is sooo nice with the 16's. I think I will give the 18's a rest for a while !

Just FYI, the 16" Feathers will NOT fit an r56. I got 2 different opinions from 2 different techs from Konig saying they won't fit because the lug nut holes are 12mm and not 14mm for the r56.

Paulie everytime I see those pics I go green, that is ONE HOT MINI .

Thanks for the closeup. I'm still thinking of these on a Pure Silver '05 but not too sure on the color, but at $100 a pop one can afford to try em out me thinks...

Is it just the 16" that are 12mm lug holes? It seems like other people are fitting the 17" feathers just fine on their R56's...

Thank you for the kind words hificanuck !

I agree, I don't think you can go wrong, I'll bet they would look great !

I had not seen a set of feathers in person until I went to the shop to look at them. As soon as I opened one of the box's, I new they would work. The matte finish really works well in the silver. Now that I have these mounted, I'm REALLY happy with my choice. I've bought a couple sets of wheels in the past for this car that after mounting them said to myself....."Not so much" ! lol ! Not seeing a wheel in person can lead to an expensive lesson !

After going thru a few set's of wheels I think I now have the right combo.

Wheels

Not on the car yet, but I ordered these and pick them up Friday.

17 x 7 Momo Course S-Five Black

Can't wait to get them on the car! BTW, since Tire Rack sponsors the forum, I ordered the sensors and valves from them Friday afternoon and got them today. If they sold Momo wheels I would have gotten the whole package from them, they are first rate!

Oh, I thought that the reason you were posting info on those wheels was because Konig made them ! lol !

I think this thread was started to show info on Konig feathers and Konig wheels in general !

Paulie, I agree that those Feathers look bigger then 16". Makes me wonder what the 15" would look like.

There are some good pictures of feathers in 15's, 16's and a few 17's at www.good-win-racing.com. They sell to mostly Mazda folk but on the site forum, there is a wheel thread just for Feather's !

Thanks for keeping me honest pauliekeys! You're the best! So that I am contributing in a positive fashion, here is another thread about the Konigs:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=132210

To close out my error, the Momo wheels are 20lbs.

Brian at Goodwin Racing just emailed me with the news of being "out of stock" on the 16" Feathers .

The reason I hate this is that I'm sure in a couple of weeks when they get stock again I'll change my mind....again .

And so goes the battle

D-Unit, I'm finding these Feathers hard to find in silver, but there is also the Enkei RS+M which is somewhat similar. 7 spoke instead of 8. They have a nice center cap which is held in by Allan bolts and appear to have a more silver finish than the flat of the feathers.
Just some food for thought!
I don't know if I can mention it here but Alta sells the Feather as you mentioned in your post, but they are $30 to $50 higher per wheel, whats with that???
