All in all it’s not as hard as everyone has said this would be.
If you were to go about the job just be care full when you pop the air vent in the centre above the speedo. The clips are simular to the bonnet scoop. Pop them straight up gently.

In stages
• first unclip the sides of the centre console and remove 4 screws (2 each side)
• then the hand brake console (just remove the drink cup screws and pop it backwards
• then remove those plastic bits behind the steering wheel and above the glove box (1 each side with 2 screws)
• unscrew the air vents in the centre (2 screws each side)
• pop out the air vent above the speedo ( use flat head screw driver and come from the side closest to you. Be gentle it will just pop up)
• then you unclip the hazard switch and remove another 3 screws.
• pull the speedo plastic surround out.
• then you can remove the bottom console with easy (3 clip)
• finally 2 screws and out comes the whole unit. ( 3 clips 1=speedo 2= stereo 3= antenna)

Bobs your uncle jobs done.

Please, please post some pics of these various locations that are talking about in your post above. Step by step if you can. This is the only thing that I was nervous about in upgrading my system.

Thanks for taking the job on and helping us all out.

If you're inclined to take the time, you could take pics as you reassemble. Looking at them in reverse order would basically create the needed visuals for disassembly.

ill do a step by step on the weekend for you guys. If you were to rate this job out of 10 for difficult i give it a 4. Very easy when you go about it the right way. Check out my gallery for more pictures.

Thanks for all of your help. The main thing that I am worried about is breaking a part or clip. How likely does that seem going through the process you used?

Ha ha funny you say that! That’s what my wife said yesterday.

I am heavy handed but i didn't break any clips! Ill write up the tricky sections in detail so you guys don't mess up. Like I said the scariest thing is removing that air vent up the top. I have photographed the back of the vent and the whole where it goes so you understand how to remove it. Everything else then comes out very easy. All the clips are straightforward. I removed the dash out of my BMW 330ci and that lads was something I will never do again! I timed my self last night putting it back together and I think that it would take me about 30 min max (not rushing it) to remove the whole console set up. I realised that you don’t have to loosen the hand brake section.

Great stuff, exactly what I was looking.

Was looking on M2 but couldn't find it!

Bart has your car got the storage compartment?...how does it come out?

I'm about to fit the bluetooth with MFSW integration, not a novice, but it's always nice to have someone point out the pitfalls for you.

Cheers Barry

Yes Oned,
My car does have that storage compartment. To remove it i made a tool from a coat hanger. I bent the wire at both ends 1 side as the grip and the other the hook. The plastic cover has to be pulled straight out. It has 3 points where it unclips. If you look in my gallery you can see the positions .

Too Late!!!

...I'm all done!

Tackled it yesterday and fitted the Bluetooth in the New CooperD

Works a treat!

Don't know if you'd strip in half an hour though!!

My biggest problem was the cupholder console!...can this be taken out totally and how?....it would certainly make it alot easier to remove the central console/heater controls, I ended up dropping out the coin tray below the console to gave me enough room to remove it.

Had read your comment than you reckoned you could do it next time without removing the center console.....I would disagree .....tried it for a while but no joy .....ended up with a few small marks on the front of the CD player as the steel clips at the top of the console rubbed on it (deffo too tight for space)

Interested to know did you take the whole top heater vent out??
I tried for a while but discovered two small covers just over the screws which meant I didn't have to remove the whole thing - problem know is that I can't get the wee buggers back in!

All I can say is that looks intimidating! Well done. I tend to break whatever I try to fix (other than computers, it's funny that way) so I'll likely end up paying a pretty penny to get this done when I upgrade the stereo to an aftermarket setup sometime in the future.

hi all,
i am planning to upgrade my oem stereo...
some questions:
- do we need to reprogram the mini after we install the new audio?
- my 1st step is to upgrade my front speaker, which stock speaker wire should i use to connect the new speaker? should i just cut the one with the adapter, or else, and what are 2 wires wrapped with blue plastic?
please advise and help.
thanks

could you post how you connected your bluetooth modul with the radio? I mean what PIN did you use for ignition pulse, etc.?

I'm probably going to go with the parrot ck3100 with newministuff's adapter as mentioned later in this thread.
