R50/53 Official 2005 February Build Thread
Bogus position report...
Yup, that 2300 position looked strange last night. I suspected someone keyed 34 degrees instead of 44. Then the fix today is back up where it should be.
Last night seeing them down at the Lattitude of Hatteras I thought they decided to SC first
For those interested, I'll just update the pics above in my first post of Resolve's position where I have them on the web. No need to flood this thread with multiple updates. As I update them the new ones will show in the original post.

It could be random, or certain dealerships or areas of the country may have priority. Maybe Ian or a MA can provide some insight.

Owners Lounge now admits I'm at sea.
And is now showing a estimated delivery date of March 17th.
If so, my car likes Holidays. She was 'born' on Valentines day, and if estimate is right will be delivered on St Patricks day.
Should I name her Val or Paddy then? Paddy Val Cooper?

Just called "ASK MINI" and I'm showing that I'm booked on a K-Line, but no ship as yet........MCM MINI's get droped off at CHARLESTON
Oh well just have to wait,wait,wait......
Oh well just have to wait,wait,wait......
This morning ASK MINI said, "your vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel." Well, that kind of freaked me out because that is exactly what it said on Feb. 4th when it was waiting at Southampton. So then I spoke to a customer service rep and she said it had finally made it to Port Heuneme yesterday and would be going through the VDC. Finally!!! It won't be long now.

Dave
My MCS was discharged from the Madame Butterfly yesterday at 2:30PM
According to the Owner's Lounge page, I am scheduled for delivery on the 17th, which is a week from today. However, once the dealer receives my car they have to install a couple of accesories and that should add another day or so.
If everything goes smoothly, I will be motoring on the 20th.
This will be the longest 11 days of the year!

I couldn't locate the ship on www.oceanweather.com but there's a lot of traffic out there and I may have overlooked it.

Resolve
For those on the Resolve http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...l?call=WCZ5535
nearly there I'm still waiting at Southampton
My experience with my February build.
It's rather lengthy and detailed. Feel free to just scroll on!
‘05 MINI Cooper S Log
Production number 6688762
Serial number WMWRE33475TD98547
Transport Ship-Resolve WCZ5535
Booking # GBSOU292811
12/31/04 Called Lavaughn at Jackie Cooper MINI to order an ‘O5 S. He said I should get $17,000 to $18,000 for my ‘04 S at MSRP for the ’05. I paid $23,008 for my ’04 new. That is Spot,WMWRE334X4TD85645. Placed the order. I’ll be keeping my wheels and tires and putting the wheels and tires from Spot on Spotwo when I trade him in. I told Lavaughn I have 15,000 miles on Spot now. I’m assuming he understands I’m not parking him between now and delivery of Spotwo. Dumb assumption? Knowing Lavaughn, probably.
01/03/05 Called Lavaughn to add DSC, Xenon lights, and Anthracite headliner. Driving in the rain made me decide DSC is a good thing.
Added another $1250 to Spotwo’s MSRP. It’s only money, right? Total MSRP + $159 documentation fee is now a cool $24,059. Less $18,000 for Spot means I’m trading for $6059. Spotwo will be just like Spot except no sunroof, S-Lites, or automatic air. He will have LSD, Anthracite Headliner, Interior Chrome Package, and Xenon headlights. Lavaughn called with the production number, 6688762.
01/04/05 Production number was a Dark Silver with Black Leatherette, HK, Premium, and Sport.
01/05/05 Order at MINIUSA changed to my car, Spotwo. Does not show White roof or Anthracite Headliner.
01/08/05 Good Ol’ Lavaughn moved to BMW. Good for him. He didn’t know squat about MINI’s. Jaydee Watts is my new MA. Hopefully she
GAS about MINI’s more than Lavaughn. He didn’t even know the HK comes with an additional amp. Give me a break. That’s only one example. E-mailed Jaydee to let her know the white top and anthracite headliner aren’t on the order at MINIUSA. She assured me it’s on the order. She said it takes a week or so to show up on MINIUSA.
01/11/05 Booked on the WW’s Resolve. *Info not on WW site until 02/04.
01/18/05 Still on order and no serial number yet. Still no white top or anthracite headliner. Yawn….. Maybe in ‘06?
01/24/05 Just back from All MINI Track Day #3. A blast just like last time, maybe even better. Saw the Anthracite Headliner. No doubts now. Definitely like it. Spotwo scheduled for production. Serial # WMWRE33475TD98547. Order still doesn’t show Anthracite Headliner or White Top and Mirrors. Think I’ll e-mail Jaydee just in case.
01/24/05 Well, Jaydee e-mailed me with a bunch of links to BMW NA Dealer Communication System that you need (I suppose) a dealer password to access. She responded quickly and it shows Spotwo’s order correctly.
02/01/05 Received at WW terminal. *Info not on WW site until 02/04.
02/02/05 Promoted to Awaiting Transport! Started stripping Spot tonight. Trailer hitch and light harness removed.
02/04/05 Finally showed up on WW’s site. Up until now the site has said “No tracking information available for the Cargo ID you entered.”. Scheduled on Auto Transport Ship Resolve registered to Wallenius Wilhelmsen to leave Southampton 02/05. Voyage #EQ505-RES. Booking #GBSOU292811. Scheduled to be in Charleston, SC,
02/17. Resolve’s call sign is WCZ5535.
Spotwo is 166 of 398 MINI’s on board Resolve. Spotwo has an asterisk next to his number on the schedule. That means waitlist status, not sure what that means. Probably means he won’t get on this voyage. He was received at the terminal at 02:30 on the 2nd. TD98564 was received at 13:30 on the 2nd and he’s not on waitlist status. What’s up with that? Probably means Spotwo was damaged and has to be fixed before being loaded or something. Paranoid? Nah. Bet I check him over good though, especially if he gets delayed.
He’ll be riding with 40 Cooper S Convertibles, 76 Cooper Convertibles, 112 Coopers, and 169 other Cooper S’s. Interesting. Or am I really that bored? Or obsessive? Of course they’re all coming to Charleston. Almost 400 MINI’s on one boat to one port. Amazing.
02/05/05 Loaded on Resolve. There were 198 MINI’s on waitlist status that didn’t get loaded. Wonder what the difference is? Spotwo’s on his way Stateside.
As he crossed the pond:
Feb-08-2005 00:0045 24' W 14.4 SW 6.6 4
Feb-13-2005 06:0069 24' W 28.6 WNW 8.2 5
02/08/05 Upgraded to Enroute on MINIUSA. This would be much more interesting with a little more information and timelier updates.
02/13/05 Resolve has docked in New York. Spotwo is stateside!
02/14/05 On his way to Baltimore.
02/15/05 Left Baltimore, on his way to Charleston, SC, where he’ll get on a truck for OKC. Should be in Charleston Thursday, 2-17.
02/17 Got off the boat today at 16:50. He’s in the USA!
02/21 Upgraded to “At VPC” on MINIUSA today!
02/22 He’s here! He’s here! He’s here! Jaydee called and left a message this morning. Not bad, 5 days from getting off the boat! Can’t go get him till Monday the 28th though. Gotta work. Still hafta take the intake, pulley, and oil catch can off Spot as well. Couldn’t get a stock size pulley so I’m putting a 15% on him to trade in. Sure hope that doesn’t create a problem.
Still “At VPC” on MINIUSA. They should fix that.
02/23 “At your dealer” on MINIUSA. Gotta get Spot stripped. Got a bunch of stuff ordered for Spotwo.
02/24 Looking into financing with FRFCU (First Resource Federal Credit Union, from work) instead of MINI. The interest rate would be 5.5%, a full percentage point less. Looks like it’s probably going to be too much hassle though. Called Jackie Cooper and asked them to install Invisishield on the bonnet and front bumper. Thought their price reasonable at $345 since the parts are $240. Michael the service manager's a good guy.
02/28 Monday’s here! Get to go get him! Got Spot all stripped, applied for a loan through Capital One too just to see if they might offer a better deal yet. A bit apprehensive over the trade-in value they’re going to offer me for Spot. We’ll see. Need to order a few things from Classic MINIwith their 20% discount!
Just got back from OKC. What a deal! I have nothing but good to say about the entire experience today! Jaydee was great. Talked to Michael in service some. Chris thanked me for buying my second MINI from Jackie Cooper. Did not speak with Karen from FRFCU but obviously everything came off without a hitch. Got $17,500 for Spot. No hassles, no problems, a true pleasure today. I am truly pleased with the entire trading experience thanks to all the people at Jackie Cooper MINI and Karen and folks at FRFCU. I left home this morning expecting the usual hassles, disappointments, etc. I seem to encounter with stuff like this and the whole thing was great. Stopped and ate wings at Wingstop before heading home. Geez they have good wings. Capital One E-mailed me with an approval for 5.39%. .11 % better than I got through FRFCU but they were just too late. I do wish MINI financial would've met the credit unions' deal. Invisishield looks pretty good, a few bubbles but I think they should disappear after some sun exposure. The shop installed my white SSR GTII 17x7 wheels and BF Goodrich G-Force Sport 215/45x17 tires. They really over-torqued the lugnuts big time.
Jaydee is a great MA. Knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about MINI’s. Very cool.
