New wheels and tires feel "floaty"

On my F55 S, my new wheel and tire setup feels "floaty" for lack of a better term.

I just went from oem 16" wheels with 195/55/16 Hankook Ventus Prime 2 to some aftermarket 18" on 225/45/18 All Sport 4 All Seasons. Overall the setup us taller, but there is less sidewall now. Fronts are inflated to 37 PSI and rears are 35 PSI.

Is the "floaty" feeling just from being on brand new tires? I've only put 50 miles on them so far.

Yes, the new thick tread will feel weird for a bit. Especially if your old ones were pretty gone.

Wow, you are way oversize. You should never go more (or less) 3% of OEM circumference.

Thanks, for the reply. How long do they tend to feel weird for?

Why is that? Other than the speedo being off.

New tires will still have some of the mold release agent on them, and it can take a couple weeks for them to "settle" in.

I'm kind of wondering whether you have a balancing problem. I've experienced improperly balanced wheels/tires give kind of a floating feel before but it's never been with a low profile tire like yours. It doesn't take being off very much to have an effect on the feel of the car.

Were the original tires run flats? I know what your refereeing to, the run flats have less or no "roll/float" compared to the other tires I installed. Play with the pressure a bit, see what works best for you.

The originals were not run flats.

I dropped the tire pressure a few psi and drove another 100 miles over the weekend. It feels like the floaty feeling has gone away...or maybe I just got use to it and don't notice anymore.
