JCW big brake kit.

well started tonight. Took about 2 hours on the front left. Front right should only take about 1 hour tomorrow after I have figured out what tools I needed. Prod do one rear tomorrow after the other front. So far so good. I’ve never bled brakes before so that should be fun when all done installing. I bought a power bleeder. Looks easy enough.

Did the other front today. Took right around an hour. That was jacking car up and taking wheel off and back on when done. Makes the neuspeed wheels look much better. Not a lot of room between the caliper and wheel. Bit more than a quarter. I guess that’s enough. Wheels said the cleared the JCW brakes.

Ok so after I couldn’t sleep I got up at 4 and re bled the brakes. I did the brembos inside out. Everything is good now. Took it out at 5 to bed in the pads. People prob thought I was crazy with the stop and gos. This was the first time I’ve ever tore brakes down and installed new. Done pads before but never cracked open a bleeder valve. I’ve always been intimidated by brakes. No longer. That was pretty easy and the power bleeder works great.

supposed to but I’m not going to. I’ve heard they program whole car and I’ve got new retrofitted 8.8 touch screen with wireless CarPlay. I’m not going to give dealer chance to screw up my coding. A lot of people have installed and not gotten the update. Drives fine.

When I first had it installed I didn't code it and it seemed a bit "sensitive" not very smooth when stopping.
I coded it myself and it smoothed out the braking, they "say" without coding the rotors wear unevenly.
N.B I'm a paraplegic so I am modulating the brakes with my hand and thus may find it much more aggressive. Took me a bit to adjust from the stock setup.

It's def more stopping power.

Using E-sys, added it to the VO/FA and changed the rotor size.
Open your FA in FA-Editor, expand it. Go to Type. Right click Ho-Wort and select add. type SPOB.
You go back to Expert/Coding, load the FA you just edited, select DSC ecu and VO code it.
In DSC search disc. The disc size of JCW for front is 335x30 and rear is 300x20.
Thats it.
We have a Q7 and when I drove that before coding the JCW brakes I said to myself “I gotta code those brakes, they feel like **** compared to this”

I was wondering why your name looked familiar, we “met” in the Navigation and Audio forum.

Lol. Yep. I have an rs3 and a sq5 also and find the brakes to feel somewhat the same. So you think that’s all they change on the code is the diameter of the rotor? I read that it was supposed to change the clamping force? This is my daughters car so I didn’t want to make anything unsafe. I figured with just the fronts being different that coding it really can’t make that much of a difference. I’m new to the bmw coding. I’m used to vag. Thanks for your help. This was the photo that made me want the JCW brakes for her car.
