Anyone ever run a set of Nankangs? Looking at the NS-25 (uhp all season.) Good reviews and super inexpensive but I don't wanna cheap out if these aren't a good option for an f56 for whatever reason. Curious about cornering stability and turn in. Apparently they're pretty sticky so that's a plus. Anyone?
Chav.. did you run the Nankang NS-25 specifically.... or one of the other Nankang tire models.
What was your reason you would not run them in the rain?
I've seen great reviews on this NS-25 tire... from Camaro's to Miata's to Subaru's... all seem to rate it well
.... but nothing mini specific which is why I'm sincerely curious about it from a fellow Mini enthusiast.

I have Nankang on my truck and was looking to maybe put some on the Mini. They are good tires for the money. The military ran them for awhile and that is how I found out about them.
The more I read about them...In the UHP-A/S category....the NS-25's from Nankang..... the more the NS-25 rise to the top in the matrix of Value/Performance....
Nankang seeems to be pushing hard for market-presence in the USA.. which is the reason, IMO, we are seeing lower prices comparatively.
I've checked out other sites with other car-platforms...my research so far.... reviews of the Nankang NS-25 put it SOLIDLY above any of the other budget tires.... and definitely into the relm of Sumitomo/Kumho and into the other mainstream cost-conscious A/S tire offerings from Conti/BFG/Cooper/Nokian/Hankook etc.
Definately NOT, in my research, to be put into the lower category of brands like Westlake, Landsail, Lexani, Lionhart, Achilles, Accelera, Atlas, Delinte.... even above other 'decent' A/S tires from Federal, Falken etc...
Nankang NS-25 in the UHP A/S category In the 17 & 18" tire sizes that would be applicable to our MINI's (within Reason for use by most MINI drivers ) 205/45R17 $56/tire incl. Shipping. 215/45R17 $58/tire incl. Shipping. 215/40R17 $60/tire incl. Shipping. 215/40R18 $67/tire incl. Shipping
NS-2R in the EXTREME PERFORMANCE SUMMER category 215/45ZR17 $116 per tire incl. Shipping
They do have their AS-1 offering UHP-A/S
...but only int the 18" wheel size that would be applicable to our MINI's (within Reasonable sizes) 215/40/R18 $98/tire incl shipping
I'm actually sort of considering the NS-2R as a rain autocross tire. I currently run BFG Rivals 1.5 rain or shine but they're not much better than slicks when dealing with standing water due to their ineffective water siping. The NS-2R has three longitudinal channels that could work well in the rain. have to do more research.

Met a guy today with a Miata Club RF with a lot of nice mods on it including KW V3's... with the Nankang NS-25's on his car in the 205/45R17 size....
He says he love the tires and he compares them with what he had on there before... Michelin A/S-3's.
Said that he runs the NS-2R's in the summer for track use.
Overall he said he's had better performing tires... BUT... he said he will continue to buy the Nankangs because they have best 'bang for the buck' and perform at the limits of his abilities and setup.
For me, it's nice to see something that has a good price on it AND performs well.
Interesting that Nankang developed these offerings in cooperation with Yokohama
Though it doesn't surprise me that the ADVANS/Michelins etc weigh less.... they have about 22% less tread depth than the NS-2R's
( Advan @ 7/32's compared to NS-2's at 9/32" )...With 22% less rubber on the ADVAN... I'd imagine that that the weights might be comparable at the same tread depth.
The Advan has a "A" traction rating (UTQG-200)...The NS-2R's have an "AA" (UTQG-120) Traction rating.
I'd imagine that the NS-2R's would have better grip... but would wear faster than the Yoko with the harder compound.
I don't think anyone on here will put these toe to toe with the best Michelin, ADVAN, Bridgestone, etc out there... Which cost can cost more than $200/ea in the sizes for our Mini's .
The NS-25's are like $60 each in common sizes for our mini's.... great bang for buck IMO... Same for the other models in the Nankang lineup.
Fresh tires are always nice... and at these prices... people will be less likely to run them past there effective performance threshold.
Heck... If you really wanted to go for it on the Auto-X ... go for the ADVAN A048's or PS Cup-2's

They are more expensive but they are definitely lighter than the N2s...20.6#s vs ~25#s from what I found on the internet.

Not really. Both those tires have tire tread wear rating below 200 which would force the driver to compete in DSP or SMF calsses where you're allowed running slicks.
I think that it would be safe to say that, for most street users with MINI's running stock or near stock sizes.... the Nankang NS-25 UHP all-seasons fit the bill for value.
For the track... well, that fits a smaller, more specialized section of MINI owners... and they seem to know what they like. Motor on !!

I will be replacing my run flats with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires.
They were fabulous on my GTI and the price is right.
With over 50 years of taking cars apart (and building 100's of one of cars) I will give you the best advise you have ever gotten. Tires are the only part of your car that touches the road. You want to save money, don't buy fancy decorations for the car that do nothing for it's performance. Tires are the one thing you should always want to be the best you can afford. The right tires could even save your car from damage or you from damage.
I replaced my set with the Nankang NS-25. They had excellent ratings (both UTQG and online reviews) so I figured I'd try them. And Nankang is associated with Yokohama so I didn't feel like I was buying a true budget brand.
To me, they feel stickier but are slightly louder than the Pirelli P7 A/S that they replaced (slightly lighter too).
