Help!!! My factory H/K amplifier died and I need a replacement. I have a 2003 MC type S. If anyone has or knows someone selling one, please let me know.

Thanx

Ed

I may have one in a week, which is when I'll likely part out a complete H/K upgrade package if no one is interested in the whole thing.

Thanks and good luck.

If you put this in the Want To Buy section you may get more info ..

Also there is a dismantler in Rancho Cordova (Near Sacramento) they ship.

There are no aftermarket amps that would be a pin-compatible, drop-in replacement for the H/K amp. In addition to handling the amplification, the H/K box also does the DSP and contains the crossovers for the various speakers.

That's not to say that you couldn't just toss the factory amp, replace it with an aftermarket one, lose the DSP and install your own crossovers, but that may be more of a project than the OP wants to tackle. My wife and I have the H/K system in both of our MINIs, and the weak link isn't the amplification anyway - it's the factory speakers.

Also, check out eBay item #190206239130. That auction is for a MINI CD player out of a H/K-equipped car, but if you read the description, the seller says he's also selling the amplifier as well. I couldn't find the listing for the amp, but it's possible that he just hasn't listed it yet. Might be worth shooting the seller an e-mail to ask about it.
