Battle Tuning N14 Groupbuy
ra2fanatic, thanks for the actual hands on response. What about linear throttle and non-linear map. In your face boost down low, with normal throttle action like a real car (pre drive by wire days). If i were to have a tune of non-linear powerband, how much to change it to linear. Would battletuning allow me to have two tunes, three actually (stock, linear, nonlinear).
Wasn't sure if that was directed towards me, but I didn't bother. You should be fine too. But since I'm going with a bigger turbo, I figure I might as well.
but I'm pleased with the answer! I just put in a new set ~2,000 miles ago. Just was hoping I didn't waste my time
If you deal with traffic, get this.....
So, I'm putting this out there to those of you, who like myself, may have to deal with stop and go traffic more frequently than not. After getting the stage 2 tune, I felt like it was great, but my car seemed like it was struggling to "get going" from a standstill. Figured I would just get used to it, but it still is something that I should bring to light. And I did. So I reached out to Battle Tuning on Friday and to my surprise, I was offered a different throttle map. Received it this evening and immediately grabbed my co-pilots (aka my dogs) and went out for a drive.
in a good way. It is now 100% PERFECT!!! From a standstill, the car takes off like a bat out of hell and then continuously keeps going. At no point is there any feeling of a struggle.
This far exceeds anything I would have ever expected. I even feel like there is more power behind the entire car. Absolutely fantastic!!!

All that appears to have changed is the throttle mapping. I haven't inquired about the technical aspects yet...kinda just wanted to see if the changes were better for me first. But I do know that I had a linear tune with linear throttle. Now I have a linear tune, but with what may be considered "stock" or "stock-like" throttle mapping.
Mini Cooper Clubman S R55 Tune
Hello BattleTuning. I sent this as an e-mail on Sunday but time is almost up on the group buy so I figured I would post it here for answers. Maybe these questions can benefit other prospective buyers or you can build out the FAQ on your website. I've also modified some of the questions.
I am interested in your DNA tunes/maps/programmer. I have a 2009 Clubman S R55 with automatic transmission, cold air intake, hot side discharge pipe, Helix Intercooler, and Alta AccessPort. It has 57,000 miles, just walnut shell-blasted intake valves, recent new timing chain and guides, new high pressure fuel pump. Our best fuel here is 91 octane.
I had a lot of back and forth with Alta to get a tune that shifts well with my automatic transmission. The first couple tunes would shift jerky, or feel like double-shift, or occasionally up shift too early then downshift while accelerating hard. Got it working well now, though shifts are a touch slower and softer than stock, but it's pretty darn good.
NM Engineering claims their tune has problems with automatic transmission too, but I haven't tried them even though their shop is only 15 miles from my home.
Questions:
Thank you.

Questions:
- How well would my automatic transmission shift with your tunes? If there is a problem can I get a full refund?
- Would I run stage 1 or 2 with my current mods? I don't plan on any more mods in the future.
- Are your stage 1 and 2 tunes only customized to my car's VIN number or each of my car's modifications?
- What modification changes require me to pay for a new tune, and how much does a new tune cost?
- Does the information I send to you from the programmer include any logs from any vehicle sensors (temperatures, boost pressure, throttle position, etc.), or strictly my stock map/tune values?
- How do you create tunes for my car without a dyno? Sort of a general curiosity question as I know lots of tuners do this.
- I read that your programmer holds 5 tunes... What's an example of 5 tunes I could have stored on it, and would I have to pay for each tune or are 5 tunes included in the initial purchase price?
- Do you create different tunes for the Sport button or does the same tune work in both modes while maintaining the non-linear throttle curve, shift points, and steering assistance of Sport mode?
- Do you remove the lag present when initially pressing the throttle, like a Sprint Booster, in all your tunes?
- If I wanted to sell your programmer in a few years to another Mini owner (different car), what would it cost them to program it for their car? Could they use my (stage 1 or 2) tune with their car?
- If Battle Tuning went out of business, is there anyone else that can create tunes or provide support for my Mini? Mostly thinking of resale value here.
- What does the Powergate 3 programmer look like?
Thank you.
Only one vehicle per PWG3.
It reads and clears codes. If you were expecting it to be an AP and datalog for you, it is not the case. What you're getting is a custom tune from us being able to read the nuances is up to the client

People don't realize how much work goes into tuning the N14. This is custom tuning, tuning that takes time. DNA would not be recognized in the tuning world or the MINI Challenge Series had they just been making canned/preloaded tunes. It's not something Battle nor DNA will do.
Your welcome to offer a tune elsewhere, but please respect our groupbuy thread.
Didn't mean anything by it. FWIW, I have no tune whatsoever on my car. I just noticed that both of you are offering the same tuning device (Powergate 3) with custom tunes. You are both very capable tuners, so the only difference seems like the price to me.
No 2 tuners are the same...I'll leave it at that.
If saving money is the most important thing then go for the cheaper option. However, if you want what's best for you and your car do some research and work out who you should chose instead of just picking something based on a saving.
