Flashed my tune tonight. Coming from the Accessport, the power wasnt much different. But, the way the car ran was amazing.

The pulls were so much smoother, the car sounded better, the exhaust note was clean, you could tell the car was running better on this tune.

I had my tune set for 18psi, to be conservative. I might ask Salman to send the 22psi map to see how that differs. There wasnt much, if any, torque steer. Not sure if its tuned that way or what, but I remember the Accessport tune to have a lot of torque steer coming into 2nd gear.

Either way, great job!

Killing me waiting for a fix. My file won't load... hopefully Sal will have a fix on Monday.

Problem solved - user error!

I was asked, by the tech (Sal), if my ignition was in the 'On' position and of course I answered "Yes"! Well, it wasn't. I didn't know that the 'On' position was when the key was in AND the Start/Stop button was depressed WITHOUT the clutch in... only time I've ever touched the start button is WITH the clutch in (thought my Physics & Mathematics B.Sc. + MBA would have helped :-) ).

Anyway, tune has been loaded and I just returned from a spin. Incredible difference! This is by far the best money I've spent on my Mini to date. If you are on the fence, just do it!

THANK YOU, Sal and Alex!

Rob

My understanding as far as Evolve goes is you tell them your mods and they send out what they believe is the appropriate remap. If in the future you add more mods and want an additional map for then you pay a small proportion of the original price of your tune for it. That's why when I sent in my file a specifically mentioned stage 3 remove speed limit increase revs and remove CEL for downpipe, do it once do it right. Maybe they'll play nice and send you another file with increased boost I'm not sure, maybe they will tweak your file for you. My file was called Evolve stage 3 yours may have been modified for lower boost so was given a different title. Considering how difficult it was to get my tune they must be very busy so you might have to wait awhile.

Mine was called 'Evolve Tune' as well, but I really wouldn't want any additional power as I'm easily spinning my wheels in second as it is and the roll-on torque is now awesome. Personally, I wouldn't want any additional power, but I did email Sal to ask which stage of tune I received... it'll be interesting to find out.

That is kind of odd. Mine was labeled stage 3 along with me name, but it's strange as I really don't have that many mods on mine.

Only wheelspin I noticed was during a hard 1-2 shift last night. No wheelspin simply rolling into it.

Under what conditions are you seeing loss of traction?

While mashing the throttle shifting into second last night, mini would have just kept spinning if I didn't back off. Never really noticed torque steer before either. I used to flog the car (during the rare times it was safe to do) but now I'll have to respect the power MUCH more so. Really wouldn't want any additional HP.

Update: second gear roll-ons also break the wheels loose once the revs reach about 4000 when mashing the throttle... never, ever happened before the tune. This is the real deal!

Hmm, Ill have to play around some more. Definitely doesnt seem as brutish as your tune. I wonder if the tires have something to do with it?

I just ordered an OBD2 connector to keep an eye on data.

Mine was 129kb maybe because its a Euro spec car.

I'm surprised you could pull DME data because its the same procedure.

I've only driven the car about 30km so there's still the adaptation period which should give the full benefit of the tune. But even driving it straight after flashing there's a very noticeable increase in power. How many miles have driven since flashing, I drove on a wet road gently accelerated out of a roundabout in second gear and got wheel spin. You could try turning off traction control but I wouldn't recommend it on a wet road.

I'll have to log with torque also to see what kind of boost levels I'm hitting

Update, went for a short drive giving it about three quarter throttle onto the freeway and hit 18.5psi. Still more to come with full adaptation and full throttle. Next time I drive I'll take it into over boost and see what I get. Girlfriends driving it to work tomorrow so will be interesting if she notices any difference.

To ease that adaption period. You should also reset your transmission computer for automatics. It helps

I have a bluetooth OBD2 connector on order from Amazon, should have it Tuesday.

Ill do a couple pulls that night to confirm Im hitting 18psi as I requested. From there Ill start looking at timing and knock to make sure are no issues there.

I currently run the Alta AP stage 1 FMIC. Can anyone compare their evolve-r tune to the AP?

OK, AP vs. Evolve..

For me, going from one to the other wasnt a huge transition. I have been running the same mods with the AP tune for 6mo now, so the car is normal to me. But, I do notice the the car runs better when driven hard. It pulls a lot more smoothly than the AP, the AP also had a lot of dead spots in it for whatever reason. Maybe it was specific to my car as its an 07 and the DME software probably needs updating.

Either way, I can tell them improvement is there from just rolling into the throttle and the feel/exhaust note is much smoother. This makes me very happy.

I will be getting a Bluetooth OBD connector tomorrow, after the holiday I will start logging and see how the boost and timing are running.

I'm happy everyone is praising the tune. Makes me sad I don't have the disposable income at the moment to buy the toy. Hopefully in 6 months once I have baby stuff settled I'll have been able to save enough for a bigger intercooler and a tune. Tempted to dream of exhaust mods too, but I know those will have to wait!

It's sad you feel bad about your previous 10% discount because they have a better Black Friday sale. I think it's nice that they have a new sale. I have to save for new baby still so I can't take advantage...

In my work a lot of people expect discounts just for asking, and rather than being happy when they get a discount, they are mad when they don't. That's just my aggravation from being an employee of a small family business.
