So what's the advantage of having this castles down pipe ? I understand there might be better flow, but will it throw out any codes? Please feel free to comment. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a Alta exhaust but I was considering buying a down pipe. Will it make a big difference as far as HP. I just don't want the car to throw codes and have to buy a tuner to fix that.

Yes there will be a code. However, a catless downpipe will add more HP than any exhaust out there. Also it will increase the exhaust noise. More so if you install an exhaust without a resonator.
But if you're thinking about getting a tune, then you can have it tuned to not trigger the CEL for that code.

Alta Used to sell a Tuner using the Cobb Accessport. They do not sell them new anymore, but you can pick them up used on the Marketplace all the time. There are several tuning options out there. DNA has a new one that ra2fanatic has had a positive review of. Jan at RMW has been tuning MINIs for years with good reputation. Evolve is another. I believe there is a thread that breaks each one down so you can better decide who you want to go with. I'm still in that process myself.

With a catless downpipe? If the state does a visual inspection you wont pass. If all they do is check for codes than a tune which disables the codes should let you pass just fine.
