How do i find the build daTE?

Hello, ive been looking around all over for my first MINI, i found a 2004 Justa with 40,000 miles in it. I want to check the build date because i want to ,make sure it has the Getrag trans, if it has the Midlands, i don't think i will buy it. Thanks guys!

Enter ths last 7 of VIN in RealOEM and it will identify build month and year.

On US models the 10th character of VIN also identifies the model year.

A US 2004 model year Cooper would have a Midlands transmission.

The changeover occurred with the US model year change....so the 2005 got the getrag, the 2002-2004 cars got the Midlands...
Not all us bad about the midlands.... Most like the feel of the midlands...and parts are pretty cheap if you order them from England...

It was effective with July 2004 builds ... the start of 2005 model year production.

The question was about the Midlands to Getrag changeover date for the R50.
